I am giving in and admitting that I need a new phone. I have not looked at what is available and frankly am resentful that I have to think about this at all. Can someone tell me what to get?
More info
I currently have an iPhone 7. It has no space for anything anymore.
New phone should be no bigger than this one.
I assume any new phone will have more space (or less of it will be taken up by “system data”) and a better camera.
Theoretically I’m open to android, but in reality I’ve only ever used iPhones and I use a Mac laptop so it will be easier for me to stick with Apple.
I don’t want to spend enormous gobs of money (possibly incompatible with the last point).
I obviously don’t care if my phone is cool or whatever, I just want to have apps and browse the internet and take pictures.
Actually I just remembered that one of my favorite apps is no longer available in the Android App Store? so I better stick with iPhone.
I really love and appreciate that you would think of me for this, but I have zero helpful resources beyond what’s been mentioned.
Couple of thoughts: Under bust corsets are easier to fit than overbust. See if you’ve got any historical reenactment groups near you or a LARPing club to ask them for resources. I’ve gotten cheap cosplay corsets on Amazon before for under $40.
A friend who did civil war reenactment made her own and she said it was way easier than expected. Most of your sewing is straight lines to make the boning channels and the shaping is all done via the cut of the panels. Especially for ones that’s aren’t like Victorian waist trainers. It’s on my list to make one because my cheapo ones are made for longer torsos and I have zero hesitation about going the easy route and buying grommet tape or d rings to handle the lacing.
I recommend iPhone SE 2nd gen used from a site like Swappa. That’s what my husband & I both upgraded to earlier this year, and we’ve been happy with them. We upgraded from iPhone SE 1st gen, and moving everything over was pretty easy.
Thanks! Yeah that’s what I figured. Bizarrely we have zero local sex shops but I could make a specific big city trip.
You say this and then you do have helpful thoughts!!
The more I research this, the more I think I should just wait and sew my own and wear it to whenever the eventual big celebration wedding is. It looks fun to sew but also no way will I finish one this month.
I’m not aiming for a particular era just casual fantasy / cottagecore vibes. More research needed…
Possibilities: broomstick skirt plus poets shirt plus a vest. If the vest looks too modern, make it so that it laces up instead of buttoning. That sort of gives the look of a kirtle and chemise without actually requiring either.
ETA: I do have patterns for actual medieval shit but that’s still a good chunk of sewing.
I’m pretty sure both of those are good. My mom has the waffle knit ones in the guest bathroom. Mine are the older and I think used to be cheaper stripe ones.
We should do a sew along for this and then I will get off my butt and make mine as well. I dream of a fancy one in pretty damask/embroidered fabric.
For this circumstance order a “corset belt” online. Those suckers are generally corset looking lace up front and then the rest is a wide elastic belt with snaps.
Have you looked at any Halloween shops? You might be able to find one there that will work for right now.
Yes! I would love to do this. Next year?? I’m looking at the sewing involved and it seems like the fun satisfying kind and surprisingly not finicky? Except for grommets and keeping even seam allowances for making the channels, I guess, but that doesn’t bother me.
this was the magic phrase to search for, thank you!
I am not bold enough to wear a corset without a shirt. At least right now.
FUN FACT my very first job as a teenager required dressing up as a “saloon girl” with corset. Except they were sad fake costume corsets and kinda gross. But I had a lot of fun playing dress up.
Temu are routinely stealing independent artists designs, so, uh, that might be why? Redbubble and Society6 both have a vast array of designs to choose from. And pay the artists a commission.
Good to know. Although I’m choking at their prices of $50 - $70+ for a shower curtain!
Full confession: I ordered from Temu before you responded to take advantage of the free shipping deal they were offering and get it off of my To Do list. If I’d known, I’d probably have gotten one from Target for about $20.
Just as an FYI for everyone, I got my bedroom curtains from spoonflower as a gift. The pattern is, obviously, vibrant perfection. But also the quality is amazing. Much better than IKEA which is my standard of nice curtains. But also nicer than the ones my mum splurged on from the Bay or Sears many years ago. And most shocking, nicer fabric than the homemade ones (where you choose your nice fabric). So $200, yes, but probably $100 of fabric at retail prices, plus labour and design.
I don’t know what the shower curtains are like, but when I do a big bathroom upgrade I’ll try.
I appreciate this from both sides because I’m applying to be a seller at spoonflower at the end of the year and also want adorable curtains for my house.
I’d like to find shoes like these - waterproof, no thong between the toes, look nice in a casual way - but with 2E women’s width. I’m not sure of the toe to heel size but less than women’s 8. This will hopefully be a gift for someone else if I can find the unicorn shoe.
