I was gonna link that one at Target, but @Bracken_Joy beat me to it
My kids have Klean Kanteen bottles. I think one is three years old (insulated) and the other four.
They are more banged up now since the older one is at school and the school has so much concrete but they are both still very functional. They both get used almost every day. Before the school thing they were in great shape. The lids are still in excellent condition too and I like that they sell lids separately.
FYI- Adidas is having some awesome sales rn.
I impulse bought some cute Adidas shoes (there are hearts on them!) from an Adidas outlet store a couple weeks back and they were less than $20. I usually spend 100 or more on any shoes because my feet hate me so it was nice to get something cute without risking big bucks in case my feet decide I can’t wear them.
I now have four Klean Kanteens. I got the first one at least 15 years ago and it’s still going strong, but it is the least complicated (no insulation, narrow twist-off). The big, old ones have many small dents but the dents do not affect their function and I still use them every day. Sometimes the bottoms become convex when they are dropped, but I just have to bang them on a hard surface with the lid off (or really have my husband do that) and they go back to normal.
Considering the number of times I have dropped them, I would probably have had to spend hundreds more dollars on non-metal bottles to get the same use.
I posted this in my journal, but also want to get wider exposure - does anyone have one of these type things for their car for their dog that they would recommend? Or (maybe more importantly) NOT recommend?

What are good solutions for “I need to still hear the things going on around me, but at a reduced volume?”
Present issue is that I’m doing group music lessons and it’s just too loud and overstimulating, but I do technically need to be able to hear what’s happening.
My first thought is, have you tried concert earplugs before? There are a bunch of different kinds (and plenty of musicians wear them especially at rehearsals!).
I’ve used these and I know other forumers have talked about liking them too:
I wear over ear headphones, but not turned on. Just acting like earmuffs.
Bonus: people are more likely to leave me alone.
We’ve had a Shark cordless stick vacuum for about 5 years. I was pretty happy with it in the beginning, but recently it’s lost a significant amount of suction despite cleaning the filters, etc. If I upgrade to a Dyson will it last longer or is 5 years about the lifetime of a stick vacuum?
I’ve had my Dyson almost 6 years. It still works well, but it hasn’t been much longer than you are asking about. I needed a new battery at 18 months, but they sent that at no charge. Honestly, for the price difference I may get a Shark next time. Will see how long it lasts…
Our Dyson stick vacuum is maybe 7yo and seems to have given out. I’m not too sure about what’s actually wrong with it, though. We might be able to replace some part?
I was going to ask if you’ve replaced the battery ever. Also you mentioned cleaning the filter, have you replaced the HEPA filter also?
Haven’t replaced the battery and this one doesn’t have a HEPA. I hadn’t thought about the battery, I’ll look into what that would cost. Sometimes it seems like those batteries are almost the whole cost of the vacuum!
I know batteries right from Dyson are around $100, which is why I was happy to get it free.
It’s true about the batteries! I bought a spare so that I could extend my cleaning time if I wanted to (about a year later) so I feel you. 5 years is a long time though! I didn’t know they had any without the HEPA! I replace mine 1/yr (because of animals and wood stove, lol). But I also just this year bought a new washable filter set as well. It refreshed the life of it a lot.
I wish I had a bougie Dyson sometimes, but at twice the cost it didn’t seem worth it!
(I run mine every single day, it gets a lot of use.)
When that happened to my Dyson it was the battery starting to fail- maybe see what battery replacement cost is like?
ETA otherwise if you want a cheaper replacement, all the YouTube cleaners seem to use their cheap tine o instead of their dysons now lol.
Not sure if this is the place, but I need advice on travel insurance. I (68yo F) and my aunt (79yo F) are going on a cruise. I have been watching some youtube videos and have seen travel insurance recommended. It seems like a good idea. Medical in the US isn’t an issue as my insurance is good anywhere (stay away from Advantage plans! Get good a good Medigap plan) and my aunt has medical from the fact that my uncle was retired military. However, she will drive from MO to me here in AZ, then we will fly to Seattle, make hotel reservations for one or more nights, and then do the cruise. There are some moving parts that I will feel better if we have some insurance in case something doesn’t work. This is a first cruise for both of us. Even the higher priced travel insurance plans seem cheap enough. Just am out of my wheel house here. Anyone with experience?
I’ve gotten travel insurance through Allianz before. I only had a cheap claim but they paid out quickly. Definitely worth it for peace of mind.
I would love a recommendation for a soft comforter and sheets. Looking for a twin size for the kid. We’ve liked bamboo and jersey textures in the past.
Anyone have recommendations?
