Got it! My first choice for you would be Trotters. Their shoes are very well made, narrow, and have flat footbeds. I think you’d like their styles too, very timeless/classic. The Walking Company sells a lot of them online and their returns are great- they also have lots of brands that are searchable by width. I love them for trying/finding new brands.
If you want department stores brands I think you’d fit Cole Haan (they also make sneakers) very well and also Sam Edelman. I think Cole Haan are better made than Sam Edelman.
For sneakers I think adidas might be worth a look! They make a lot of really flat shoes and they tend to be narrower without much arch support on those models. Asics are also worth looking at, some of them are highly cushioned but many are not.
Another tip for tennis shoes, since you’re looking for something to put an insert in: weightlifting shoes. Weightlifting shoes never have much cushioning on the sole or inside, by design. If you were to buy some in a half size larger than normal I think you’d be sure to have extra room.
I plan to look on Poshmark so I guess I’ll start with Trotters I like shoes that lace up or have straps over the foot (like Mary Janes), both for practical and aesthetic reasons, if you want to suggest styles!
Thank you @Littlebird! I am wary of going with contigo again but that nalgene looks super promising!
Hmm maybe I just got unlucky with mine? I have the ashland and I feel like it’s leaked a ton almost since I first got it but that was over 3 years ago now so probably too late for a replacement
No metal because as learned from experience there are too many places I need to go to occasionally (malls etc) with security that will not allow metal items through
Can I piggyback on the water bottle thread and ask for recommendations for metal water bottles? I’ve been considering Klean Kanteen, Hydroflask, and cheaper knockoff brands. I’m not sure if the name brand is worth the cost in this case? I would prefer a buy it for life type of thing rather than something I’ll have to replace in a year or two.
Again, we really love our Zojirushi. I found a brand new one at Goodwill that had never been used and was actually the Japanese version, and dh coveted it until I bought him one on Amazon that is exactly the same but in English. The keep the water so cold all day!
I am now on an eternal quest to find more of them at the thrift store!
I have a Yeti rambler because I like the lid and drinking surface. I would say it’s expensive but BIFL because there are not really any moving parts. I don’t think any of the insulated bottle brands will fail at the metal parts, but some of the lids/spouts/straws/etc are prone to failure and that might be where a bigger name brand is worth it.
I absolutely love my CamelBak Chute Mag bottles. We have them in multiple sizes. The cap has a magnet so when you unscrew it and pop it open, it stays out of the way. The spout is great both for drinking directly or for me, I steep a giant bottle of tea and then pour it into a mug. The handle is also really comfortable for carrying.
It’s been a while but I got mine for a really good deal on Amazon Warehouse Deals (customer returns).
The issue I have had with hydro flasks is the bottom edge seems more fragile than other brands the way it is shaped, I have dented mine many times and it kind of wrecks the insulation that keeps the water so cold. So expensive but not BIFL in my opinion
Is something like this available at not Ikea? With the plastic storage bins as drawers? My search terms aren’t specific enough at this point and there’s no Ikea near me.
I’ve had Kleen Kanteen bottles and they also dent/scratch pretty easily (the insulated less so than the regular metal ones. The regular metal ones looked like I used them for bowling pins after a couple months lol. Maybe they’ve improved now; I dunno)
