Best water bottle that’s actually spill-proof/leak-proof? Hopefully under $20?

Requirements:

  • Narrow enough for car cupholders, etc.
  • Can’t be metal
  • Usable with one hand (don’t want to have to unscrew a cap to drink)

I’m a big fan of my contigo’s, with the straw. They are narrow so fit in the car cup holder or backpack, and its one button to open. I haven’t had issues with leaking.

Mine are not insulated, but I believe that they just came out with a new one that is.

I currently have a contigo with a straw that I’m trying to replace because it leaks constantly :frowning:

I hate straws, but I have a Contigo that doesn’t use a straw and I love it. No leaks, one button to use.

Got a link?

I had three of those, and the kids dropped them and the button broke - Which is why I go for the straws only now. But yes, f you don’t drop them, they are equally as good

This is the specific one I prefer: https://www.gocontigo.com/water-bottles/ashland-straw-water-bottle-with-autospout-lid-24oz/SAP_2076638.html

And this one is probably close to what @Crow is referring to: https://www.gocontigo.com/water-bottles/cortland-2.0-24oz-water-bottle-with-autoseal-lid/SAP_2145029.html

I prefer the 24 oz ones, because they are the narrow ones. 32oz are wider at the base, don’t fit in the backpacks side holders well, and I don’t know about car cup holders. I did end up with one 32oz by accident, it lives on my desk at work.

The lids are interchangeable, however, the lids are what I had fail on the autoseal’s, and you can’t just buy a lid. When my third autoseal failed I got annoyed and emailed them, and they did send a replacement.

Why not metal?

We bought Zojirushi water bottles last summer and love them so much!

They keep the water ice cold. They are a nice size (they do make bigger ones.) they can be used with one hand and don’t have a straw.

I have associated Zojirushi with small appliances, but they started out by making thermoses

I was impressed with their customer service when I complained about the broken button’s - I have a few with straws, and mine don’t leak, maybe see if they will send you a replacement? I filled in an online form and sent them a photo of the broken part. They shipped out a new one within a few days - said to expect it in 17 days, it arrived in two.

Mine doesn’t have the cover over the top, so it’s not the one Star linked. It’s possible it is so old it is not sold anymore, which I realize is not helpful at all.

this is what they sent me, when my autoseal broke, because, my old one was not sold anymore - so likely, yours and my original were the same era, and this is the newer version. To be fair, this one seems a bit more robust, and the children haven’t managed to break it yet. I think J2 has claimed it as his daily school water bottle even.

This was my favorite before I switched to insulated: 24oz On-The-Fly Lock-Top Sustain Bottle - Nalgene®

The extra pro to this bottle is that is easy to clean. For me, that is the downfall of many of the straw and spout top bottles. They grow mold eventually.

Me too. There was a lot of crying but i am very glad we were able to decide a problem that can be solved with money on this scale is not, in fact, a real problem. The end. Optimisation not required. Possibly some sales hustle required for me later.

One expensive ___ is cheaper than many short lived cheap ___. I have found this to be true in most areas of life.
Not when it comes to snacks, but it’s a good rule for consumer goods. No shade at all for spending the money.

Since this is a shoe thread now  how do I, an adult with small but narrow feet, find shoes like that? That’s sort of my dream—zero drop but not minimalist shoes with some cushion. I already have orthotics to shape my shoes to my feet, I don’t like having much shaping in the shoes themselves.

I can give you some brand recs for narrow shoes with a flatter footbed. What style of shoe are you looking for (tennis shoe, flats, etc.) ?

Flats for work are my highest priority, but sneakers would be good too! I know Keds don’t work for me—the toe is too shallow.
