I would try a few of the Keen styles and see if any of them work! The ones I have are fairly supportive but not as structured as many of their other styles so they don’t have quite as much support around the sides and back of the foot.
Yes! That’s the main issue I’m running into. I tried some Merrel sandals with ok side support but it’s like my foot wasn’t big enough, depth wise? Like the size was correct but I didn’t have enough foot volume or something, IDK. My other current contender is an SAS pair.
I just put mine on and walked around a bit (for science!) and they are very light and cushioned and keens feel like they are made for my feet. I don’t usually tighten the ankle strap much but with it tighter there was a fair bit of support. Merrills never work for me, I think they are longer/narrower?
Anyway, my body is not your body but I hope you find something that works for you!
I’ll let you know how it shakes out!
My hiking sandals are Tevas, they are very old (like seriously, 20(??) years old? Older?) but they have a few newer styles that might work:
Some of Teva’s styles I find weird, but I like their shoes that are like the ones above. I have narrow feet so I always wear shoes that can tie or tighten. I have fallen arches from dance, and need arch support. I also strongly prefer ankle support than floppy things. I haven’t personally worn these new ones though so they are just a possible thought. I really like hiking sandals made of material that dries fast so you can wear them through streams without worrying about getting socks wet and then blisters.
Thank you! Are your feet narrow all the way through? The first ones you posted look promising and I like the sound of arch support.
I forgot about my Tevas which are also 20+ years old and mostly get pulled out for camping trips every few years but are still going very strong. I think I was in high school when I got them? I wonder if the new ones last that long!
Pretty narrow throughout. But mine at any rate have 2 places where you adjust, the back/ankle strap area and the front strap, and I think(?) the linked ones do to (?) so I can imagine being able to adjust them comfortably independently? This is just speculation though…
I bet they don’t!
Cool, thanks!
Thinking about it I think my heel is more narrow though. Like, I literally can’t wear shoes with no straps or ties, my heel will slide out, doesn’t matter how well made they are.
My feet are like little triangles and it’s so stupid, lol.
Feet in general are stupid. I have so much trouble with shoes and I refuse to wear shoes that hurt me.
Your feet sound like Ponder’s! I have no good sandal recommendations.
I tend to have a narrow heel compared to what is available in store. I was pleasantly surprised by the Scarpa Moraine hiking boots I recently bought. They also feel pretty light weight, and had a good balance between stability and cushioning (e.g. sketchers often is too much cushion and not stable).
Perhaps they have sandals too? Unfortunately I’m only seeing kid versions on quick review.
I am very chaotic with my haircare purchases, and as my head has mostly been shaved, short grow out from shaved, or self-given mohawk during Covid I’ve barely had to use shampoo. Now I’m growing it out and need to clean it more and my latest impulse buy of what was on sale at WalMart was a bad choice.
Any recs for cheap (or at least relatively cheap), high preference for vegan friendly shampoo/conditioner good for thick, wavy, self color treated hair? Bonus for easy to find in stores (I’m in the USA)
Pic of hair below for reference in case it helps!
Edit: I should also mention that I run, and therefore sweat, a LOT.
I have had very good experience with Taos sandals. The ones I like best are Prize. I wear these ALL THE TIME, walking on trails for miles and miles. The straps come up high on the foot so no flip flopping. The straps are velcro but don’t look like it. And I’ve found good deals on eBay over the years for some of the discontinued colors. Bronze is a nice neutral.
Thank you everyone!!! I have a nice list going now!
Is anyone in the mood to help outfit sommelier? I’m looking for an outfit for my friend’s June wedding.
My constraints:
- Straight size. This is very annoying to ask, I know, but it must be petite length (given my proportions, if I want a not-petite dress to fit, the tailoring will cost about $100, and I’m simply over it.)
- My vibe for the summer is 70s MILF.
- I look best in autumn colors, especially green, and neutrals. I don’t wear patterns often.
- I look best in dresses with structured waists but are loose on hips/thighs.
- I hate traditional wrap-y dresses, maxi dresses, and sun dresses (on myself, they look great on other people). I want to stay away from anything that feels too dated.
- Open to dresses that require a weird bra situation.
- Budget is up to $200.
- Most of my dresses come from Nordstrom or Anthro, but I’m open to going in a new direction.
Venue details:
- Vibe looks like it’s Northern CA casual, Pavilion at Redwood Estates – Redwood Estates Services Association
- Dress code on the invite is Dressy Casual/ Cocktail, and some of the events will be on grass.
- June average for this little town is high temp of 82 and average low is 52. I run cold and I’m sure the buildings aren’t insulated. It doesn’t rain there this time of year. (“Gonna move to the Bay Area now, pretend that that was your dream the whole time? Have fun always carrying a light sweater.”)
Thank you, friends, for any ideas!
Edit: Maybe something like this? Is it just too much to wear a long-sleeved dress in June? I’ll look for a Shein dupe.
Does anyone have allbirds (or an alternative rec?) I see reviews that people are on their fourth pair…of $100 shoes. I can run hiking boots into the ground in under a year, so I’m guessing I should stay away unless someone has experience otherwise.
