I’m probably getting the Instant Pot duo 7-in-1 (the 3 quart) sooner rather than later - I was waiting and waiting because my little yogurt maker keeps on ticking (it’s 15 years old!) but I can only do 1 quart at a time and I’d really like to be able to do more now that I am doing smoothies every day. I’m not super interested in a lot of the other functions because I have a fancy rice cooker (that works great) and a stand alone air fryer (that works great) but if you want to maybe eventually get the air fryer attachment (for instance) for the Instant Pot, make sure you get the right size that it will fit!

It was a game changer for us when we had no AC. Depending on how you normally cook, I don’t think it’s over optimistic at all.

I was gifted an Instant Pot and thought I’d never use it, but it’s become something I reach for all the time now. I use it at least 2-3 times a week, just because it’s so nice to set and forget it and meal prep beans or rice or meat while I’m doing other things. It gets really hot here too, so I really like using it in the Summer instead of the oven. This weekend I made a roast in it, not slow cooker style well done and shredded, like medium-rare oven style, which I did not know was possible. It’s so versatile! I think I have an Instant Pot Max, but the only functions I ever use are Saute, Pressure Cook and Yogurt. I’ve never tried the pre-programmed buttons because I don’t live at sea level, and I have to adjust a lot of recipes because of that. I think it’s totally worth it if you make yogurt, cook beans from dried, rice, and other basic staples like boiled eggs

ETA: if you do get one, buy a bunch of extra sealing rings. Mine are totally saturated with bean smell/taste no matter how much I soak and scrub them. I learned that the hard way, and now I have 5 bean rings :joy: and a meat ring and an anything else ring

Oh gosh yes. :joy: I have a chicken broth ring and a “spicy” ring. I make lots of BBQ pork, carnitas, ramen broth, etc. That needs a different ring than I’m gonna use to make rice to top with pesto, or with butter and feta. Def learned that the hard way. I got different colored ones to keep them straight.

We used to have a 5 quart but downsized to the 3 quart “mini” and have zero regrets (unless you plan on getting an air fryer lid). 3 quarts is plenty for the two of us, and I have two extra pots and two storage lids, and we often put the food directly into the fridge. With the bigger pot, it would have taken up a lot more room.

That’s the one we have, and it’s great for the two of us, because it makes one night of food and one of leftovers.

It was absolutely game changing. Even considering I often (well, sometimes) used a stovetop pressure cooker. With this thing, I don’t have to worry about babysitting it. It calls me when supper’s ready.

But it!!!

For summer, you can sautee, add things and then pressure cook so nicely for curries. Plus weekly yogurt and beans. Also lazy rice.

If you have a dishwasher, and I don’t remember you having one, it gets the rings super clean

I like mine for anything that is likely to boil over like potatoes or grains like rice that have to be cooked just right or take forever to cook like beets. One thing I don’t use it for is yogurt - I find it easier to heat the milk on the stovetop and ferment it in mason jars in a cooler.

I love my instant pot! I use it to make yogurt and use fairlife milk. So I don’t have to boil it at all. I just dump a bottle of milk, some sweetened condensed milk and some yogurt I saved from last time. It’s so easy!

I also use the ip constantly for other things. Like 3-4 times a week most weeks. Especially in the summer. Has anyone gotten the Air fryer attachment and liked it?

Why did I never think of this? Everything I make smells like chicken tortellini soup and it’s weird.

I have a recommendation! I used to use a loofah or sponge in the shower but I hate how much you have to replace them. I just bought this a week ago so I can’t speak to its lifespan yet, but people claim to keep them for years and years. And honestly it’s the best shower cleaner thing I’ve ever used. It’s really long, like a scarf, so it’s easy to get your entire back, bottom of your feet without bending over, etc. Very exfoliating too, which is awesome because I have dry skin, and it lathers super well!

My skin feels v smooth after.

I think i want a new light fixture in the living room to make up for not renovating and opening up the main floor. It has always felt the wrong size.

I’m looking at those woven rattan ones, but perhaps they just place it very firmly in the past couple years and I will be sad later? No chandeliers or heavy shiny metals, and we are on limited spend these days.

I think a new fixture would change the space a lot.

looking at Ikea, though worried it will be too soft a light

Also taken by this light, though the shadowy one probably wouldn’t like the metal

Oh I love that. It’s like nautical steampunk.

What about something like these? Less metal but similar style:

Can someone please help me find a bralette with sewn in cups (not unlined, not removable pads)? Stretchy/pull on type, NOT clasp back. So, similar to a sports bra but a little looser/softer and cut for wearing with t shirts.

Thank you!
