Ok I’m definitely going to look for a cuisinart insert. Thank you all!
Ooh, I should get that attachment. I don’t use my food processor for the exact same reason. (Nor my fancy blender, but that’s mostly because I don’t like smoothies much.)
I’ve been wanting to make lakes (comfort food) but haven’t wanted to grate all the potato. We have a grating disk. Latkes come to meeeeee.
It’s almost New Bra Day!
In the spirit of new underthings: I want to order new, cute, fun, underwear. Hipsters/thongs are all good. Color/ridiculous prints are all good. Lace and bows are all good. Spending less than $20/pair is also all good.
What are your fave purveyors of cute underthings? Calling @marcela and @allhat and @ElleP.
I have been very happy with underoos I get at Aerie. They often run 5 for $30 deals.
I have developed a relationship with the brand innersy on Amazon. It is probably unethical in at least 4 ways I can think of and is not cute. But last year I splurged on some nice pairs from montelle and while pretty, they aren’t cotton. And there was a lace pair from somewhere else that wedged itself and also was scratchy.
So I’ll just stay tuned
I think I got mine during a 10 for $35 deal!
3rd-ing (4th-ing?) Aerie underoos. Love the way the hipsters fit.
I find these very appealing in all the ways except for price, particularly the deep vibrant green. High Rise Undies – ARQ
Ohhh that green is so cute. Too bad for me they’re high waisted! Alas.
Okay I have ordered from Aerie based on the mega rec here haha. Pandemic wardrobe is looking less pandemic-y!
Happy New Bra Day everybody!
I also like Aerie, especially for bralettes, but some of them are not totally full coverage! Also the sizing is a bit funny but that might be because I’m super sensitive to my ribs being squeezed, anyway I usually get a size L (I’m a 34C or 32D depending) in bras but I am my usual size or even down a size in panties from aerie. If there’s a style you like order up and down just to see, that’s what I do, they’re great about returns. I don’t care for Aerie’s structured bras at all, they don’t fit my body or vibe.
My other favorite bra brands include Jockey, which is very true to size and affordable (esp. for sports bras and other soft full coverage bras that are smooth, not lace) and when I can find them on sale: Calvin Klein and Cosabella. Calvin Klein makes great structured bras and amazing soft smooth bras with full coverage cups. Their bras also last a really long time (Saks off 5th sells them and so does Burlington in some areas). Cosabella is the hardest brand to find on sale but their structured bras are phenomenal and ultra sexy. I also like the brand Hollywood Tape (I think that’s what it’s called, not 100% sure but I usually buy them at Ricky’s) for sticky bras and nipple covers if you’re into that sort of thing too. If you want an ultra push up bra that adds a lot of volume (I like to keep one for…reasons, don’t worry about it) it’s still true that no one beats old Vicky’s Secret. I also like VS for strapless push up bras because of the way the side band is constructed- I find them much more wearable for a lot longer than other strapless structured bras (vs. Bandeau style, which I can’t wear with all of my outfits).
I got my new bra day supplies early from knix. It’s their maternity/nursing bras in the stretch fabric. And I’m quite happy. Not as shapely as a t shirt bra, but less saggy and nipple than kindred bravely. They are my all day every day bras. I have slept in them but they aren’t ideal for sleep
Heh. I have never once ordered a bra online and don’t think I ever will, unless it’s to re-order a bra I know and I love (S/M/L sizing doesn’t work for my proportions and anything more structured than that definitely needs a try-on session). (ETA: And apparently returning things through the mail is my kryptonite, omg I haaaaaate it like a little child hates mushrooms.)
Good to know on the panty sizing. I’m on the size edge for that and went to the lower size, based on reported height/weight info from the reviews – this makes me feel even better about having gone the size down. We’ll see when they arrive!
Haha! Yeah I have a bit of an unfair advantage on that one. I buy and return so much stuff online, like out of every 10 items I buy I probably return 8 due to fit issues. Returns fall mostly under husband’s purview though, so I just send him the return labels (and track the refunds) and then stack the packages in his office, but he does the physical returns for me. Feels only fair since I also do all the shopping (for him too) though.
ETA: Actually, this just made me think…you know how humans established official weights and standards for measuring things? Why is there no push to do that for clothing? Because men’s clothing sizes are also all over the map and it drives me nuts and probably creates an enormous amount of waste. Mostly I can’t wait until everything is custom and we just 3D scan our bodies but…still. It wouldn’t be that hard to standardize.
If you have an American Eagle store near you, you can return in person, in case that is less irritating than shipping back returns.
I legit dreamed about asking a tailor to custom make a bra last night. But even in the dream it wasn’t possible.
Ew, I’d have to drive to a different city. (I am so fucking spoiled.)
I daydream about this a lot. Honestly, if I ever learn how to sew, it’s gonna be in service of making my own bras (which I know is a really high level skill, especially for structured underwire bras, but omg, want).
There is a custom bra place on the Main Street near me.
I ordered my new bra!. Meundies wired bralette since all my bralette are nursing and therefore threadbare and old.
What colour if that isn’t too personal
