I am cheap and lazy and just use the wastebasket for my feet.

Mine’s a wooden squatty potty that husband made for me,

Comfort height is a bit tall for me and I’m 5’3. I’ve gotten used to it, though, and it is fine. It’s very good for my DH who is 6’1 and has back problems. So I think one issue is whether it’s primarily for you or if you frequently share.

I also agree with recommendations for wooden, soft closing seat and ease of cleaning. I seriously considered the wall-hung style that didn’t have a traditional base to clean, but it was too expensive and I’m thinking there are likely other draw backs. If I could find a seat with less crevices in the hinge area that would be an improvement. But the seat will pop off for cleaning in that area so I have a not-too-difficult option if it bothered me that much.

Our new house has a wall-mounted toilet in the bathroom off our bedroom. I do like the ease of cleaning with the wall-mount style but I have to admit it makes me nervous. I can feel it move a bit when I sit on it and I’m afraid one day my husband or I will sit down too hard and the whole thing will come loose and we’ll have a plumbing emergency on our hands.

What’s the difference between a blender and a food processor?

I want to make smoothies.

Midrange recs? Budget recs? General recs?

For smoothies you want a blender. I love my ninja.

Smoothies you want blender for sure. Food processors can do a lot more, but for loose liquids you want a blender.

Oster blenders are solid, too.

My ninja is awesome.

We got the ninja system when we got married. It has an absurd amount of blades and works as both food processor and blender for us.

I bought a Blendtec because they are made in the US and are among the highest rated, and I expect to never have to replace it. It works about 1000x better than my old blender, which blended soft stuff ok (until it stopped working) but never was able to crush and blend ice. If you want something that will reliably blend and crush ice, get a higher end one. I wish I had so, so much sooner. I am drinking protein smoothies every day now, whereas previously it was a chore (and they weren’t that good, so I would just… not).

My 2 cents.

I only ever use the smoothie cups but the blender cup is nice to have.

Ooooooo mine is from before they did the smoothie cups. I have the tall blender jar, but also a short food processor jar. Mine also came with blades for mixing dough and whisking things.

If I bought again I’d get a ninja. I have a vitamix and it has paid for itself. All in my house drink it’s green smoothies.

The ninja with the blender is stronger than the one with just smoothie cups. My blender is old and cheap so could stand to be replaced anyway. Not sure how much I would use the food processor, but might be nice to have a nice one for $30 more. I did just get a tax refund and saved all of it except for $160 which I was just letting myself spend on whatever. Hmmm….

I looked at cheaper ones and it looks like they are not nearly as powerful. Like maybe 200 watts instead of 700 or more.

My Vitamix was a hand me down in college from my mom, and I think it was about 5-8 years old at that point, so it’s 15+ years old now and still works great. If you can find a used/refurbished older model Vitamix I feel like they are better quality, but the new ones are super too. I’ve never ever had a problem with it, and it just blends everything
