Your Very Own Personal Shopper

We go to the hardware store weekly - the joys of owning a house! - and they seem pretty well stocked.

I have actually bought a lot of lights at the thrift store, too, but that’s obviously more hit or miss.

Anyone seen any really great deals on fitted sheets lately? I probably missed all the sales since Girl Kitty waited until this week to destroy the last of ours so that they now have no elastic in them. Sigh.

Kohl’s was doing some nice bedding sales.

I always forget Kohl’s exists and they do have good sales on no-frills basics, thanks!

Really I want to buy from here but thanks to Girl Kitty we can’t have nice things: https://www.sininlinen.com/

I usually get nice percale sheets from Marshalls for $40 for a full size set.

I get the basic fitted sheets at Target. I think they are $20-25, and they have good colors. I’m sure they don’t last forever, but I hate buying sets because I never use the top sheets or pillowcases

January is traditional for sheet sales, plus the flannel sheets usually go on clearance then.

Another question: anyone ever shop at robemart.com? This is basically what I want to replace (mine is… oh god, WELL over 20 years old now, don’t remember where I got it) and this is the best price I’ve seen. I wonder how the quality is, though, it needs to be thick and absorbent and not shitty.

What are your favorite cookware brands/lines? I’ve never really picked out my own cookware, just gotten roommate cast offs and thrift store finds. Bonus points if they are lightweight!

Nordicware, sold at Target or sometimes a little bit cheaper on Amazon. And I prefer aluminum precisely because it’s so light.

Edit: sorry Nordic ware is all baking I’m pretty sure, for cheap and light and nice enough looking I like Imusa pots and pans.

I am looking for an inexpensive, but still comfy bed for the guest room in my new house. I know Ikea has an inexpensive bed that gets good reviews, but unfortunately my city doesn’t have Ikea. Does anyone have a bed that is similar that they like that ships to the house? I’m looking to spend less than $400 if possible

It looks like there are American Furniture Warehouses in AZ, idk if they are close enough to you? Multiple people in my life swear by them for cheap but comfortable, and they do have a mix of styles.

We’ve liked the combo of these:

Thanks! I like aluminum too, I really want a caldero. And it looks like they have cooking stuff on their site! :+1:

I had a Nordicware pan that I loved, although it didn’t last very long – something like 2-3 years, though it was used very heavily in shared housing. I’m not sure I’d go whole-hog on their stuff, since the surface got destroyed so quickly, but I’d like to try their stuff again when I’m not sharing the kitchen with non-Wizard people.

So, uh, these are not cheap, but I really like Scanpan for nonstick pans. I have the Es5 in 10" and 12" and love them (plus I got them on a good sale from Williams Sonoma, lol)

I luuuuurve Emile Henry baking dishes - I have the Modern Classics Large Rectangular Baker and the Modern Classics Square Baker. I also have their Sublime 6 QT Dutch Oven, which although I haven’t tried it yet, it is soooooo light and it goes in the dishwasher!!

ugh I’ve turned bougie

That’s really good to know! I want something more durable than that for sure.

Thank you! I’ve never heard of these. Maybe I can find them in store somewhere nearby to give them a feel. They are really expensive but I could spread out my purchases since it’s not like I don’t have cookware (mine is just getting really worn and a lot of it was old when I got it). I kind of like buying piece by piece anyway.

ETA: Browsed a little more and these are probably out of my price range. They look gorgeous though!

I haven’t used them yet personally, but have had a few friends recommend the HexClad pans recently. They aren’t cheap either, but supposedly really great. I also just dog sat in a kitchen that was fully stocked with All Clad pots and pans and now never want to own anything else, but sadly my bank account does not agree with that decision! But the novelty of pot handles and lids not getting hot when the pot is hot is just…wow, what a luxury! Haha

To be fair, who knows how common my experience is. That being said, I am careful with pans – no metal utensils and no dishwasher – so… it doesn’t bode well generally for such an expensive pan.
