5b. Some sites tell me 5b or 6a.
A nice clematis on a trellis, perhaps?
I tried searching the archives but I’m bad at interneting today. Does anyone have recommendations for a washing machine? Ours just died, obviously on the same day that we got back from a trip…
(I’m gonna look at wirecutter and consumer reports but also I wanna hear from real humans!)
Figure out type you want first and foremost. If you’re getting your first front or top load HE, read the manual! Most people dissatisfied with them aren’t loading them and maintaining them right.
ETA and it is NORMAL and GOOD for clothes to come out of these pretty Effin dry. It does not mean they didn’t get washed.
Good point. I used to have a front loader and I really did like how dry it left everything…
Leaning towards a top loading HE for back pain reasons (I prefer reaching down to crouching + reaching in) but not totally sure yet.
If you have the vertical space, you can also get a pedestal for front loads.
Wireless earbuds for my pixel? I like j labs but I’d love to get something cheaper if anyone has a rec.
I had a front loader, and no pedestal because why would I waste money on some dumb thing like that? I thought maybe a top loader would be better because of the crouching, so when my front-loader died, I bought an energy-efficient top loader. And then hated it because oops, I forgot how short I am. It was very hard for me to reach all the way down to pull out the wet clothes. I ended up hurting myself constantly, and then had to put a stool in front of it which was inconvenient but better than hurting myself. The whole thing made me hate doing laundry, and I already didn’t like it because I’m not a psycho.
So now I have a front-loader that sits on top of the pedestal that is made for it and was worth all the extra dollars because I don’t have to crouch or hurt myself or stand on a stool to get to my wet clothes.
If I were not a shorty, the top loader would have been fine. I hate being short, it’s so annoying.
My MIL is 4’11”. She once fell into my top loader when we had one
That’s hilarious/awful.
There’s a reason I’ve never had her try and put the toddler down for a nap
Cribs are so hard for the shorties! It’s amazing how many things I can’t reach in my own goddamn house. At least my teenager is taller than me now, so I have double the number of people here I can ask to reach things.
I have an LG top loader. It has a wider but shallower drum which is great if you are a shorty like me. We used to have a Samsung top loader and I got very angry at it because I couldn’t reach the bottom. Both seem to function about the same though! Basically if you are going to get a top loader and are also short test them out first.
I believe it was a Samsung my MIL fell into, possibly an LG? It sang a happy little song when it finished lol. Quite a deep drum.
Skullcandy basic wireless model is around $40 on a sale
Ooo, thanks! And they’re cuter…you get bonus points!
I am pretty darned short and have never had trouble reaching the bottom of the top loading washer.
I am very sad about leaving my Speed Queen behind. It was a great non-computerized washer that could be repaired.
I was sad that our old speed queen couldn’t be repaired. We would have needed a machine shop to custom make a replacement part that is no longer manufactured, so it was time for it to go, alas.
I do love our current set, though.
I look forward to that day Just as long as he becomes responsible enough to be trusted with the high things before he can actually reach them…
IIRC I had to have my husband move stuff from the top loading washer to the stacked dryer when I was heavily pregnant because I just could not bend down like that.
Thanks again for the rec! Earbuds came today and they are super comfortable/easy to pair. The range is good too!
