If you have funding for it, definitely get it!! We have a small little condo and it’s one of the few things that I keep out all the time because it gets used so much. I move it around a bit but sometimes purposely put it in the middle of a walkway and we all step on it as we move through that room.
So - there are some with one line, and some with two - preference? difference?
We got ours over a year ago and they didn’t have that option. I’d probably go for the option with two now if we had the choice and the budget.
I think @Economista has one too and might have an opinion
Current status:
We also got the single line model. I like it, but I’ve actually been disappointed that my girls rarely use it. They pull it out occasionally when they are making obstacle courses, but that’s it. We also can’t just leave it in the middle of the floor due to it being a blind person tripping hazard, so it’s pushed against the wall and we don’t have the opportunity to just randomly step on it when we walk by. It takes a dedicated effort to pull it out, use it, and then put it back.
Question for artists around here: my teenage nephew is obsessed with skiing and lately has been drawing on leather Kinco mittens for his whole family (apparently they started as work mitten/gloves but got “discovered” by skiers). He said he’s been borrowing his friend’s paint pens so I thought that could be a good Christmas present for him.
Is there a certain brand or set of paint pens that would be good for a budding artist drawing on leather? He takes good care of equipment so I don’t mind getting something good quality that will last.
posca paint pens are really great. google says that it’s best to seal them when done for protection.
there’s a special paint for leather called angelus, but it’s not in pen form:
Thanks!
Any suggestions for a sample set of daily sunscreen? I realized I should jump on any sales before they disappear. I never put on daily sunscreen but I should. Something light, preferably, not like the spf 50 I use at the beach.
Awesome, I hope everyone loves it!!
I don’t know about a sample set but I have tried a lot of sunscreens. I’d be happy to try to make a recommendation based on what you might be looking for.
I want one that feels like a lotion or serum but can go over moisturizer, and ideally is mineral but not streaky and does not stain my eyes
I get different results from mineral depending on the climate. How humid is yours?
My sister is a low key skincare makeup person and she has always liked Badger.
Ummm? I’m not sure what you mean.
The Korean ones feel like lotion and are not streaky. I like Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen and Beauty of Joseon something about relief and also rice. How do you feel about tinted? Because most of the mineral ones I’ve liked are tinted. I don’t know that most of those feel like serum but there are some that are more lightweight than others. The Babo Botanicals Daily Sheer is pretty, well, sheer. Also Kopari Bright as Day Sheer something is light and nice. But a little bit glowy. Not too much, not as much as Heimish Artless Glow Base, which, to be fair, says what it is right in its name (although it’s also a 50spf which is why I have it, not really feeling the need to have a primer in general.) I put all of them over moisturizer without a problem.
Oops! That should be sting. Lots of them sting my eyes
Anybody know where to find n95/kn95/some other kind of good mask with a clear window in them? I need to mask for at least the first week of the spring semester because I have surgery the second week, and I have at least two students who are hard of hearing.
My husband has become interested in making his own tortillas, but we are a whole-wheat-flour household (as opposed to white flour or corn tortillas). Would a tortilla press help them be thinner and less wonky in shape vs using a rolling pin? Does anyone have one you like?
I roll my flour tortillas (and they are never perfectly round) but I do use a press for corn tortillas and it is better at getting them uniform and thinner. I have a cast iron Victoria that I was recommended somewhere.
Like this
But I certainly didn’t buy it at Sur La Table, and I surely did not pay that much for it.
They are supposed to just be for corn tortillas. I did try with flour tortillas and you have to use plastic wrap and it was more bother than just rolling them out. A silicone mat is super helpful for rolling any kinds of dough.
I’m pretty sure I got that press from the grocery store. I didn’t use it enough for it to make the move.
Hmm, maybe the Boy just needs some more practice.
I need another rec! I’m looking for water bottles that are:
Stainless steel
Leakproof
Insulated
Easy to close properly because I am lid-challenged
Straw free (no plastic sitting in the water)
Dishwasher safe (at least the drinking part)
I need one for me and one for my three-year-old, who has even more difficulty closing a lid than I do and who bit off part of the silicone straw of her Thermos bottle.
