What are y’all buying your teens this year?
My teens have phones and computer and gaming systems.
They want for nothing.
Because of this, their Christmas lists are pretty sparse.
Ideas?

What foods are cool on tik tok? For teen girls.
Nieces want clothes/gift cards, bath bombs, charity donations, makeup mirror(tik tok), money for camp
I have bought bath bombs and for one a cool watercolour card and will buy tik tok food for the other to go with her bath bomb
Gift cards for movies or food out that they like? My friends always seemed to have money to pick up some chips at the convenience store or a fancy smoothie or lunch at the mall food court and it was unpleasant for me always having to say that I wasn’t hungry/didn’t want any…etc
A lore book for one of their fandoms? T shirts with funny stuff on them?
Mines doing a 2 week backpacking trip this summer so most of his are gear upgrades. He’s also getting a fitbit, bath bombs, hot cocoa, tea.
Here’s what I want to buy for my boy, but I’m scared to spend any money as I will run out in a couple of months if i don’t get a new job soon, so i’m not sure what I’ll do.
Guitar fixed (I have one to give him but it needs a little fix) and guitar lessons.
Gym membership
Some sessions with a personal trainer? Someone who can help him both with a workout plan and a meal plan. (I haven’t looked for this combination yet so I don’t know if I could find someone good or someone who would give harmful advice, which is a fear I have, clearly.) Maybe I need to separate them and see about a dietician appointment through our health insurance.
Anyway, don’t know if these are helpful because they are based on interests he has. He also wants new headphones because his broke, and more RAM, and he needs a new desk chair because his broke. He does always seem to enjoy Roblox gift cards.
My kid has received gift cards for specific places and then doesn’t end up using them because he loses them before ending up at that specific place. He does get excited about things like Door Dash and will use that without losing it. But my kid is also a lot less… going out-y than Star’s kids, I don’t know. They probably go places and will use their gift cards.
Eh maybe… We live in the sticks, and there is no where to walk to from school for lunch? So I’m not sure about gift cards. Unless it’s a visa card, for the school cafeteria?
So far:
They are each getting a collapsible fishing rod for canoing
They are each getting a set of camping pots
J1 is getting a nail drying light
J2 is getting a sticker printer
J1 is getting acrylic pens
J2 is getting Clank.
I should hit the local bookshop this week and get them each something there.
My teen nephew asked for a certain cologne set one year and a Bass Pro gift card another year. He practically lives on boats and will probably make his career involve boats so I’m pretty sure the gift card got used.
Oh now that’s a good idea!
We have a local outfitters shop in the Town, maybe I get them cards for there
Sweet, this means you’ll provide all the gift ideas I need in a few years for Kiddo, yes? Never mind that he’s very much an indoor cat, unlike your family.
He was very intrigued to find out that he’s a tween now.
Apparently Owala water bottles are now the popular kind? I picked up a couple angel tree-type cards and tend to aim for teenagers, and those came up a couple times (+stickers for decoration). Otherwise things seemed mostly personal, though, a specific lego set, a specific brand of clothes, that kind of thing.
My biggest issue is that J1 is info art and nails and… There’s a bunch of little things that I can pick up for them.
J2 - much more difficult
(J2 used to be the easy one! Take a walk down the toy aisle and find anything fun. Then, Lego. I don’t think he’s finished last Christmas’ Lego yet. His favourite thing to do is watch tik tok and play pokey phone now)
Can you add the gift cards to his phone’s tap to pay? That’s been a game changer for me in terms of actually getting gift cards spent.
J2’s List:
Calendar - Grandma buys him that annually
Lego - He hasn’t finished last year’s
Blanket - Other grandma is making a new quilt
Clank - That one I got him
Last year I got them a foam axe throwing set and that’s been a win.
Oh! Now THAT is an excellent idea! And a joint gift. And we have TONS of space for it
And - (I hate to be this person) it’s big. Big packages are - i dunno, my husband has a thing about the tree looking very full
Yes, that was one of the best parts! Teens so rarely get big boxes.
ordered. And now, Amazon is showing me many other ‘large movement toys’ so I’m continuing to browse.
But also - I feel like I’m now in a good spot
A few of us with you ger kids have a giboard which is an indoor balance board/slack line. The adults in my house use it too so probably good for teens as well. It’s expensive so probably not a good last minute add on, but adding to your list for next time.
I’ve been looking at this, for me! (And, expensive but also - This is an item that I can put through J1’s funding, which i have a hard time using up)
