Does anyone have one of the smart wall calendar things(like skylight) and like it? I’m trying to think of a Christmas present that would make my life easier.

I really want an oversized cardigan with sleeves that are tight. So like, tight sleeves but flowy everywhere else. I found a perfect example but it’s from Shein and I don’t want to buy from there. I’m hoping to find one that is either wool or cotton (natural fibers preferred). Does anyone have any ideas?

This is maybe not understanding the requirements, but would a wall mounted tablet locked onto the calendar app that syncs everyone’s calendar do what you want? I think ‘display mode’ or ‘kiosk mode’ lets you pin an app and maybe have the screen be always on.

Oh maybe! The calendars are a bit bigger and seem a bit cheaper than a tablet though.

Look at Eileen Fisher on resale sites!

Does anyone know if there is a website that filters through all of the black friday / sale ads? So you can quickly find where to get a certain thing the cheapest on black friday? My Christmas present this year will be a new pair of air pods and I’m assuming they will be on sale somewhere, maybe at multiple places, and I want to make sure I get the best deal when I buy them.

Thanks!

I feel like preppier stores might have this–places where the looks skew away from bohemian. J Crew? Everlane? Madewell?

I think Google Shopping Price Tracker will do that but only if you have a certain item in mind. So I think you could do it for say Apple air pods but not all Bluetooth earbuds? I could be off base, I haven’t used it in many moons

The handle is coming loose on my colander. Does anyone have a recommendation for one that seems very solid/buy-it-for-life? Must be metal.

Oxo makes a metal one that is very solid, can’t imagine it will ever break down.

I’ve got a Giada branded one that I think I got at target that I’ve had for at least 14 years. I can imagine a way to tear the handles off but it seems very difficult.

The holes are big though, so it’s a pasta colander not a colander for washing rice in

I’ve been using GapFit leggings the past year, and I am considering upgrading. I lift, spin and do a bootcamp class. I’m thinking something less slick and plastic feeling, also maybe something looser?

I have 46" hips, which Lululemon makes snide remarks about right in front of me.

Black friday sales a plus.

have you tried Nike? they have a good size range and I usually find pieces on sale and ime they hold up well.

girlfriend collective is also good quality, but I think they only do leggings.

universal standard has a good size range as well, but can’t comment on quality.

MEC carries some extended sizing from various brands, mostly online, but they are easy to return in person if things don’t fit. they have a big sale right now.

I can’t remember if the Zella brand from Nordstrom are an upgrade from GapFit or not?

Looking for good places to get graphic tees for spouse. I think we both enjoy a stealth-nerd/geek aesthetic, eg a set of LOTR themed “breweries” went over well a while back. Or an abstract design representing a science concept.

List so far:

  • Threadless: got these a few years ago and they were peeling within a year. Bummer, some of the designs were great.
  • Shirt.woot hold up well but designs tend less abstract/minimalist. And it’s Amazon owned.
  • Snorg Tees, Teepublic: not sure of print quality, less classy?
  • 2046 print shop: great but expensive
  • BeCause tees: seem good, more nature/animal themed is ok, anyone know the print quality?

Teeturtle was good several years ago but their sizing runs small. I think they also had a certain style/aesthetic to their graphics so either he’ll like it or not.

Generally a Teeturtle fan, although they’ve been leaning pretty heavily on the branded/licensed stuff recently which isn’t usually my thing (TMNT, Spongebob, Avatar, D&D, a couple others I can’t remember). I did grab an Invader Zim ‘Doom’ t-shirt, though, which I wouldn’t have guessed would ever happen. At least for me the women’s cut sizing seems about right at least as far as the premium cotton option (short sleeve), and I’ve been happy with the quality; the unisex option that’s all they have for long-sleeved is definitely on the smaller side.

(ETA, I don’t bother with stealth on the nerd side so possibly it’s less helpful there, I was very sad when my ‘10 kinds of people’ shirt dissolved and thinkgeek was gone, although it’s come up quite a few places since)

Does anyone have a recommendation on an alarm clock that does not have little fiddly buttons? Kiddo can smack the snooze button on his current alarm clock (which probably dates from the 90s) but the switch to turn it off is small and must be shifted to the left by three millimeters, no more and no less.

Has anyone ordered a “modular couch,” like from Cozey or Bellfin or one of those?

I think I want the Cozey Ciello for my front room, but - that’s a hella lotta money for a couch that I can’t sit on first
