Does a comfortable futon or sleaper sofa exist? I have an office/ guest bedroom that gets used for mostly my parents and husbands best friend. It’s used for a bed about 15-20 days a year. Right now we have a queen mattress on the floor for sleeping but I would like to have more walking space and still have something that’s comfortable to sleep on.
When I graduated from college, my first bed was an 8 or 10 inch cotton futon with innersprings, which was very comfortable for about a decade. It is now relegated to the guest room, though it should probably be retired at this point, the springs are starting to be feel-able. It spent most of its life in the bed configuration, and I flipped it regularly, which probably helped. It didn’t fold the best for the couch configuration, but was serviceable.
I’ve seen daybeds with a trundle that either pulls out or pops up that might also be good? There are also couches where the back folds down to lay flat, that I think are reasonable. Or go full Murphy bed?
Murphy bed obviously would be the best for comfort but the way the room is I don’t think is an option. I really want to have some smart of couch so I can sit on it during meetings! Good to know that a futon with springs might be an option!
I haven’t slept on it but there is an IKEA daybed that pulls out to big that seems popular- it can use regular mattresses at least
LaZBoy had a sleeper sofa that had a really good mattress- you did not feel those slats like most sleeper sofas I’ve tried. That’s been a while, but you might look there.

I’m on a similar quest! I want this bed in an xl twin, but sadly it’s a twin. And pretty pricey. If there’s anything similar in xl I would be so happy. I like that it’s very couch-like and could be cute will pillows
Yes, I sleep on a fancy futon mattress and I find our almost 20 year old futon couch to be insanely comfortable. Got the bed one from Cotton Cloud futons locally.
Please ignore mess. This is the Hemnes daybed I have. The storage drawers are big enough for household linens and it pulls out into short of a short king bed.
But because it has the drawers and not a trundle, what you’re supposed to do is make it with 2 stacked 4 inch foam mattresses, and then when you have a guest and pull out the bed you un stack mattress. Ours has never been used pulled out in that form but it seems like it would be pretty comfy for smaller adults but maybe not enough cushioning and maybe not structurally sound for a larger couple.
If I want a Buttercup from Princess Bride dress for Halloween, how do I go about finding one that isn’t terrible quality? (I’ve had this idea for about two and a half minutes so I make no guarantee if follow through.)
The red one?
Yes the red one.
I did a quick Etsy search and only found one option, which doesn’t say what material it’s made of, so I wouldn’t go for that. If you feel like sewing, there is a pattern on Etsy. Otherwise, I’d say look on reselling sites (ThredUp, Poshmark, Vinted, eBay, whatever others I’m not thinking of) for a long-sleeved red dress and a gold belt. Look for true vintage, or for high natural-fiber content, for good quality fabric.
What is everyone who lives in the cold(we’re in Minnesota) buying for kids winter boots? Apparently none of the bolts in our house fit the kids we have.
LLBean Kids’ Northwoods boots - they come with two sets of liners so you can swap them out if the liners get wet. From a fellow MN Mom, but take this with a grain of salt as my kiddo is now 24.
Canadian Tire boots if I can get them before they run out. Last year we did decathlon. B2 fits in a pair of Bogs we have that claim to be for winter.
We had bogs for eldest the last 2 years(they kept fitting her). They are super waterproof but not amazing for very cold we get here. Kids still go outside if it’s down to 10f so she needs warm feet!
Thanks! I’ll have to look at these!
Yeah, I’m doing the outbound Canadian tire ones as well (-25 kid -20 toddler C). Kamik is the other brand we’ve done before and used sorel are great. Schools go out till -20 I think but times shorten
You can also get sorel style full liners and heat reflective or felt or wool insoles.

I have to go to a wedding in 4 days. I have a gorgeous lavender tulle maxi skirt with no blouse, or we find a dress.
I can probably make 1 trip out of the house. So actually Amazon is probably happening. Dress or blouse should be modest-ish. Sounds like this is the party not a religious event. Usually I like to lead with boobs or legs, but we are in more of a showing calves OR elbows OR collarbones kind of situation. Okay maybe 2/3.
5’1, 160 pounds, former hourglass now with a bigger belly.
Also need shoes I think.
Depending on weather I might go to a store tomorrow instead of groceries.
Photo of said skirt?
Could you do a boatneck silvery gray long sleeve top and add necklaces/jewelry as befits the event dress code?
