I wouldn’t get a refurb for a Fitbit because there’s no official manufacturer refurbished ones, but I think a Best Buy open box one would be a good option! The battery should be like new.
That seems like a legit suggestion. I have been really happy with the Inspire 3 that I got from @Greyweld! I’ve had it for months (over a year maybe?) and it still runs days and days without charging.
But also they are not that $$ new. They don’t make the smart watch FitBits anymore- the Inspires are watches that track your steps and tell you your text messages and little things like that.
What features do I need in pants?
My body is very very squishy these days and looks amazing naked, in some dresses, in my wide leg jeans and my wide leg costco pants. In my sweatpants, leggings and about half of my underwear, it looks like someone has tied a string very very tightly around something squishy in a tube. No or little marks on my body, these clothes feel looser than the jeans… what do I need to find? Ideally still a stretchy thing because who doesn’t love jeans and sweat pants? Oh, and my pyjama pants don’t seem to do this but they aren’t recent or known brands so I can’t just buy them in plain neutral colours or I would absolutely do that!
The squishiness is most of my back, and my abdomen from my bra band all the way down.
Ok. Hi angels.
So I’ve been on the forum for I think six years and I think six times/every summer I have made the same inquiry, but here I am again as the weather warms up:
Searching for pants to wear in the summer. I do not wear shorts.
Things:
• Something between workout pants and jeans, which I have plenty of each. Hoping for something that’s presentable, but easy to move in and appropriate to do networking meet ups, stuff like that and – doesn’t need to be fancy, but I just want to look a little enhanced from cotton joggers.
• Obviously, I need them to not be sweltering, I walked dogs outside and it gets well over 100°F here for a decent stretch of the summer
• I really need them to have some structure, I hate how flow clothes feel every day sense (fine for relaxing), but I really need some structure, both for longevity/durability, sensory, and honestly aesthetics. For reference, I literally wear wrangler, cowboy cuts, and would wear them starched if I had my way ![]()
• High, or at least mid waist height.
• No capris/ankle pants please, but any gender of pants is great.
• Sizing goes above large, but I don’t need plus size - If sizing goes to XL or XL I should be just fine if they are gendered “women’s” and L if gendered “men’s”.
• You know, I’d like to say under $100 but at this point I’m so desperate for something I might be willing to go above.
The closest I’ve come to this so far has been a pair of horse riding pants, which had a little bit more structure, pockets, and belt loops, but still wasn’t quite what I was looking for.
Thanks ahead of time for everyone’s knowledge and patience
I LOVE Y’ALL
Are you wanting something lighter weight than this?
Have you considered hiking pants?
Eg Freeflex™ Roll-Up Pant in Women's Pants | KÜHL Clothing
(Many options from jeans to joggers: https://www.kuhl.com/kuhl/womens/pants/)
Or like: https://www.duluthtrading.com/s/DTC/womens-dry-on-the-fly-bootcut-pants-46708.html?color=INK
Also Ponte pants, but I think that’s a dresser look than you are going for? Ultra-Stretch Ponte Straight Leg 4-Pocket Pants - 30" inseam
Do they need to have buttons and zips? I just bought a pair of these and they are a nice mix of jogger comfort with structure that makes them look less casual. They are pretty sturdy, especially for a gap factory item

I also always recommend Prana Halle pants, and it looks like they have new pant called the Palisades pant that might fit the bill as well. They have men and women’s version of both pants, too, and then mens version is on sale for both!
I wear a lot of Old Navy Pixie pants. They are fairly lightweight and come in skinny leg, wide leg and flair.
Are there any differences in the waistbands of the pants that look amazing and the ones that give string vibes? For me in my current squishy state, wide waistbands often look smoother.
Also, any differences in where they hit on the body? I get different visual distribution of squish depending on where the waistband hits.
I think I might need to do mirror pics of a lot of pants to figure this out. Luckily I am camping where this is less of an issue
As someone who has spent a lot of time being jiggly, although probably a different type of squishy than someone who has birthed, I second wider, higher waistbands.
Leggings in thicker fabrics with wide waistbands will shape nicely. I’ve found jeans with “tummy shaping” features more comfortable because they’ll have a solid panel inside out of the pocket material and offer support. Hard to do much with joggers, but if they sit at the waist they will balloon out. So I guess, roomy joggers rather than close to skin ones?
Less warm weather friendly but you can also get structure/support from tank tops, bodysuits, or tucked in tees, and then wear something thin/loose/flowy on top. I like Knix bodysuit (except my bewbs like to spill over
) and Athleta Elation or Solace tanks. I know you’re trying not to shop US brands but that’s all I have experience with.
Thank you so much for sending this.
I believe so, yes, probably a bit lighter than that.
Unfortunately I have also tried those on and they’re just not made for my bod. I really, really wish though – that price is great
Thanks everyone! Keep the suggestions coming – ![]()

But may be helpful for future suggestions if you share what doesn’t work/vibe so we can collectively zero in on The Perfect Pants? Fabrics/feel? Style/appearance? Fit? And also which direction (Softer and stretchier or more structure? More casual or more dressy/business casual?)
I was orienting off “feel like joggers but look like jeans/chinos” but it sounds like you might be looking for structure closer to jeans?
'Tis the nature of fashion.
I am useless at shopping so I’m not adding options, I just know you have to try a lot of things before finding the right thing. And even then sometimes an item will betray you - I found great jeans and then when I bought an additional pair the zipper just … really likes gravity? So I constantly would have an open fly. Why do you betray me, pants? ![]()
If you end up liking anything from Prana, Columbia, or Mountain Hardwear, this is the last month I have a Friends & Family code I can share, and it has a significant discount (like 40-50% off, but shipping may not be free). My friend got laid off from Columbia but she got a new job right away because she’s so awesome! Let me know if you’re interested!
(Anyone else can ask me too but I’m giving JJ first dibs. They are single use codes for each brand, and Sorel is on the list too.)
As an aside, if you still have the pants (and for anyone else having this problem), and the zipper pull assembly is metal not plastic, take a pair of pliers and gently squeeze each side of the zipper pull where the teeth go through. Test the zip, and keep going until the tension feels right! As a bonus, this will also magically make the teeth hold together better, if you have a zipper that wants to split after being zipped. You can probably overdo it, but it would take some doing, but also don’t crank down on it right off the bat.
Thanks! I’ll give that a try!
OK, no specific links. But there are linen pants which are very cooling and light, but are probably too flowy. But what about linen blend pant or a seersucker pant like a suit pant? Will have some wrinkles likely with wear but it goes with the style.
