Yay, I’m so glad it’s working better for you!!
Also I very much appreciate you sharing this:
Because that’s what we’ve been doing, without even considering battery health, so I’m glad that it’s actually ok

Ummm if you can’t or don’t want to get a Dyson… get a Shark. They make great devices.
I have a Shark pet pro and it works great. I use it every day.
I have a Shark Navigator Professional that is a corded vac and have been happy with it. Got it back when I was traveling and had a cleaning person and she is the one who picked it out. So that was maybe 7 years ago?
For those that are recommending the Dyson stick vac - is it your primary vacuum or something used for quick in-between cleans? I’m wondering because I received the Smoture (Amazon Choice) vac already, charged it up and gave it a try last night. First impression is good - it’s lightweight, not too noisy and picked up lots of stuff. But there’s no way it could be a main vac. If others have pets and are using a Dyson stick for a main vac I am going to reconsider. Thanks.
On irons, I have a Rowenta and it is well over 20 years old and going strong.
My Dyson is my primary vac but I live in an apartment without carpet (but many large rugs) so I don’t have multiple levels to cover or anything
I have a big hefty shark, and a light cheapo stick. The combo seems excellent - when I pull out the big one, the shark does a great job, and when i want touch ups through the week, I use the light one.
My Dyson is my primary vac but I don’t have any carpet.
I’m planning to get a stick vac to complement my big corded Shark. I will still use the Shark 1x a week or so, but I want something that is easy to grab and do a quick run through the house every night to keep more on top of dog hair
Yeah, that’s my use case as well.
If I would ever use a corded I’d get a miele and then a cheaper stick vac. My dyson v8 is my main/only. Hard floors and some rugs. One cat, 2 kids. Usually do the main floor 2x a day and upstairs weekly. If I miss a few days downstairs it does need several passes in some areas.
I have Oscar the pretty-dumb Robo vac for daily vacuuming, and then use the bigger corded one once a week or so.
Oscar does a Pretty Good job with all the Ares hair for a $125 robo vac. He can’t vacuum the whole house on one charge, and he regularly gets confused in rooms that aren’t square.
On occasion, I build a ‘wall’ to keep him contained to a smaller area.
I am horrified and amazed at how much he vacuums up daily. Ares looks like he’s getting ready to shed, and I’m curious how well Oscar will hold up to shed season.
Oscar is a Lefant vaccum M210Pro

I’m jealous of those who can have a robot cleaning buddy. Unfortunately our family room is sunken so it just wouldn’t work. Sigh.
I need to buy a new professional wardrobe (at least for tops) in the next 3 weeks.
I am also going to go to NYC/Manhattan for incidental reasons and I would prefer to shop in person if reasonable.
Any ideas? I don’t need suits, but I’ve been working at a startup where I can wear startup branded t shirts 4/5 days a week and I need to upgrade to business casual, and most of my pre-pandemic button downs don’t fit any more. I am willing to pay $$$ for ethically made natural fibers but not for fashion brands and I am in between straight and plus sizes at the moment (aka it’s by brand).
kotn is mid price, seems semi ethical, and has a store in NYC. I don’t know if it hits your ‘business casual’ wants. They have a fair amount of oversized items, so should work if you are cusp. (I even found pants there that were too big on me)
May not check all your boxes but I happened to have this open in another broswer window so I am sharing it here(this blogger has had several posts recently about starting a wardrobe from scratch, so if this post doesn’t help, take a look at some of the other recent ones.)
She’s great on cusp sizes, I should catch up on what she’s doing
Hmmm let’s see. Eileen Fisher? Madewell? I think Wildfang closed their nyc location, otherwise I’d suggest them for button ups.
Maybe doesn’t help your immediate needs but I get most of my work tops off ThredUp. It does help to know brands/sizes that work, though (and you can filter by brands, materials, etc). Admittedly, I assume “secondhand first” and wearing things out offsets the original brand’s fast fashion aspects.
LOFT has some good tops for biz casual. I often find a style/cut/size that I like IRL, buy that in store, and then pick up other colors on eBay/Poshmark.
Does Ares seem to mind the robo vac? I’m just very certain that Oliver will chase it, and my house is too small for that
Also sometimes I wish we lived in a cold climate so there was a shed season. Oliver has two shed seasons a year, the first 6 months and the second 6 months
