Have you considered a robot? My Roborock is amazing and it just goes and cleans for me!

Yep, Dyson.

I would love one, but I’m afraid Oliver would love it a little too much…he’s a big fan of chasing things :joy:

I am sold on Dyson! I think I just wanted people to say it was actually good so I could justify the price :joy:

Yeah, I did some looking on Amazon and just can’t bring myself to pay the $$$ for Dyson. My DH asked me what I want for my b-day which is coming up soon. I am getting this as a combo V-day and B-day gift.

Not sure if the link is working right. Anyway, DH said I’m a dream. I hope it’s as good as the reviews say. For less than half the cost I’m going to give it a try. With 3 big dogs, I need more help to keep the yuck away. I’ll report back once I’ve used it a few times.

I also love the Dyson because it’s been super easy and straightforward to buy replacement parts and batteries!

Ours is almost 8 years old and still going strong because of that

If you carefully stalk the “used” option on Amazon, you can get a good deal on what is most likely a return of some sort. I don’t think mine had been out of the box.

It is so worth the price haha. I vacuum 2x weekly if not more and it’s gross/satisfying what that thing picks up!! When I finally got it I was mad I had waited so long

Same!! We’ve had ours for 5 years and my partner will still spontaneously say “oh yeah that vacuum was a good purchase” lol

i am disillusioned with my dyson cause it dies halfway through cleaning my one area rug, and that’s after i replaced the battery. i will be really interested to see how you like this one!

That’s wild - how old is your Dyson? Mine could get through my entire 1100 sq ft previous residence (with thick carpet) on the most intense setting in one charge

Even brand new I never got more than half of my 1000ish square foot house done on one charge. I still love it though. I just do it in 2 sessions.

I have a new one and the battery isn’t great. I plan around it not being able to last the whole time I would ideally want.

i bought mine in 2020. it’s a V8.

I have a tineco (former Wirecutter pick). I like it’s price, it’s super light weight, and it has a trigger lock so I don’t have to squeeze it the whole time I’m vacuuming. I think it’s been downgraded in the performance department, relative to other options, but I’ve found it very effective on my hardwood floor for both pet and person hair. The battery appears to be holding up pretty well, though maybe finally showing it’s age (I’ve had it a few years, and it’s either getting old or I haven’t been docking it consistently enough, but I haven’t paid enough attention to tell, and it lasts through as much vacuuming as I want in a session, but it’s not that long, but also I’ve never timed it)

Besides price, I found my mom’s regular upright Dyson to be incredibly awkward and heavy, which is why I didn’t seriously pursue a Dyson stick. Also, at the time, it maybe didn’t have the trigger lock, and f that noise. Idk if they’ve upgraded!

Ours was a refurbished v8 and could only do half the job. Then it got worse and we got another brand battery that I thought would kill us but so far no explosions and more battery than ever.

We went Dyson because I got one of the top 2 dupes (at the time) and killed it. The dyson has not died and I work around it’s battery issues because I am not about to deal with a cord.

I miss my robot but it is not robot season in my life

Can anyone recommend a really good iron? Primary use is for sewing/ crafting (eg, steaming a cross stitch flat). Mine is meh and also probably 20 years old.

I think Rowenta has always gotten good reviews. Mine works great and has lasted quite a while.

I have a Rowenta, the basic corded kind, not the one with a separate steam reservoir. I like it enough that when my previous thrifted Rowenta died, I hunted until I found a replacement Rowenta.

No but since you have a costco membership, just get one from there because if you have any trouble with it, back it goes. Right?

OK so today i made sure the dyson was fully charged, i took some time to clean all the hair off the roller, and i used the non-turbo speed. i repeatedly cleaned my 9 x 12 fluffy rug and cleaned the filter several times  and still had enough power to get most of the rest of the ~1000 square foot house.

so i guess this was at least partially user error! we tend to not leave it plugged in all the time, trying to save the battery, but apparently dysons have a feature that means you can leave it plugged in all the time with no bad effects, so that’s what we’ll do going forward.

thanks for sharing that your experience was different! it inspired me to dig in a little and see if i could figure out why.
