Yoga With Adrienne - 30 Day Journey

I know! My body did not do that one.

Did day 21 this morning. I should really check the lengths in advance! This is the one that was only 12 minutes but it was ALL abs. There were a few things I could not do. I have not kept up with my abs like I should.

ETA: One things about this that has been really useful for me is practicing getting my morning routine a little more dialed down. I have been isolating from my kids because of their covid, which has given me time in the evening (which I am sure I can continue to find!) to lay out my clothes for the next day. I have started sleeping in a stretchy bra so I don’t have to put one on just for yoga, and the two-breakfast strategy is working for me. I have a little bowl of raisin bran when I first wake up, which also gets food into my hungry tummy faster than trying to make something. Then I have real breakfast after yoga.

It constantly feeling like it takes me too long to get ready in the morning has been a source of stress for me, but I feel like I’m really making progress on that front even though technically I am adding things (yoga and raisin bran) rather than taking things away.

Day 27 is done. I should have been ready for it, since it is named “strong” but it was really hard. Her write-up in the email even warns that it is an opportunity to experience and celebrate your WILLPOWER. Yes, it does require willpower. I am glad I did it and I am proud of getting through it, but I may have had to strip off my shirt halfway through and there are a few times when lowering to my belly was more of a flop than a controlled descent.

I’m glad it’s working!!

Day 27 pissed me off so bad that stopped at 14:21. Then I lay on the floor seething for about 3 minutes, then I set a timer and meditatively seethed for another 7 minutes. Then I finished the goddamn day.

I really enjoyed the triangle twist thing at the end.

Now, having just had the knees knocked out from under my tiny sense that yoga might be something I can do with my stupid body which is a gift given to me by God to cherish and enjoy, I’m going to sit on the couch and re-realize that I’m fat and incapable.

See you all tomorrow.

Okay, okay, I’m done. Thank you. No need to stare. just an adult having a tantrum in public. It’s fine.

OK, with both reviews of day 27 indicating this is a HARD day, I put it off for most of the afternoon. Finally convinced myself to do it and let me tell you it was no joke. Did the awful mountain-climber-esque things and thought “well, at least that’s done with.” But no, they came back again. And again.

That is exactly where I wanted to stop, too. But I pressed on

this is totally not in the spirit of yoga and I'm completely joking

just so I can say I’m better at yoga than you

At least, with only 3 days remaining, we won’t have to do this again. Right? Please?

Ha! I needed that, thank you.

I’m actually pretty happy that I got “back on the mat,” and finished. I really did like the twist at the end, I felt strong and balanced. Desperately clenching my asscheeks, uh, backbody.

No, thank YOU for keeping me going. And yes, I liked both the start and the end.

The thing we did at the start, with opposite limbs front and back, is my favorite of my back PT exercises. I really appreciated Adriene’s reminder to approach it as if it was new and focus on the feeling. I got more out of it than I often do because of that.

Day 20. I wish there was more time between transitions. My body does not move smoothly between the poses, I cannot yet go from downward dog to lifting a leg high to bringing it forward into a lunge. Plus I have a towel to kneel on, which sometimes gets in the way.

And also, a person with glasses cannot just lie on the side of their face.

Anyways, I did more of the mountain climbing, which seems to be something I’m going to be doing more of based on others’ comments here. So I guess it is good to get practice. Time to ice up.

Day 22 done. I’m glad there was less ab than yesterday because I could definitely feel them. I liked the lion’s breath posture.

Day 28 is done. Today more than makes up for the terribly hard day yesterday. It is very short and very easy. Most of it is done laying on your back.

Day 28 done here, too. I even kept my sweater on. Two more days!

I think I’m calling it. I finished my day sixteen a lot of days ago. Many of you seem to be in the twenties and I’m not doing today or tomorrow

Day 21. I spent 90 minutes end of day yesterday avoiding turning this on, so I got it done this morning, and perhaps I still might do an evening session and so not have my dates too far away from the days that are being posted.

My laughter point was when she said, ‘and now on the side’.

I did day 26 yesterday in an attempt to get back on track after two really busy days. Mentally preparing for Day 27 today, isn’t that the one people say is hard?

I haven’t made it past day 19 and I don’t think I did yoga once this past week? I want to want to do yoga, or do something, but all well. I also haven’t walked much lately due to weather.

Just finished day 24 and did 23 yesterday. No doubling up this weekend, just staying the week behind. Planning to finish the remaining days in the next 1-1.5 weeks to do the full program.

Also strongly considering to either repeat (part of) the program in the remainder of February or select some other Adriene videos to keep practicing.

Day 22 is finished! So much balancing! I often need to hold on to something to support the balancing but I can really feel my muscles working.

I am really enjoying the sequential format. I am switching to prenatal yoga after I finish this challenge, but post-pregnancy I would love to go back and do one of her past years even if I am not doing it every day, just to always have the sequence. Not having to CHOOSE what to do every morning has been really helpful. Maybe I could also plan my Jazzercise workouts in advance so I am not always scrambling looking over the catalog in the morning.
