I heard from some coworkers who went to get the Covid shot that they needed to self-attest to meeting “FDA indications for the 2025-2026 Covid-19 vaccine”, but it was a check of a box with no additional information needed. Hopefully that doesn’t change after this week.
That’s what mine was, but I had to leave the state to get it without a prescription.
@Bracken_Joy , no idea on the state consortium thing. We’re in uncharted waters here.
No appointments until Monday in my area ![]()
I’ll see if I can get a walk in when I’m in a medical building tomorrow otherwise may have to hope for the best.
Can CDC actually override FDA approval?
See uncharted waters above. Who the fuck knows.
But the CDC is trying. This is all fucking Kennedy.
I think all they can do is remove the recommendations which removes insurance coverage. ACIP recommends vaccine coverage which then insurance companies are required to cover. FDA approval of a vaccine or drug is totally separate, but insurance isn’t required to cover anything that’s FDA approved.
But I also haven’t looked it up in over two weeks so who knows what they’re planning to try
I am on biotech LinkedIn which is very in tune to things that might lose pharma money and I haven’t seen any alarm bells though
And insurances are interested in saving money, and vaccines are cheaper than hospital stays, so I’m actually moderately optimistic they’ll cover it anyway.
As posted by @AnneBeddingfeld, Kaiser announced C19 vax for all despite FDA approval limits! So
!
I still want mine tomorrow because I’m traveling for a family wedding next week
I’ll def get the flu vax.
The 80 min wait rivaled the best rides at Disneyland, but we stuck it out and got our C19 shots in a walk in basis! I’ll do flu in a day or two at the local clinic instead of the big one. ![]()
Some people in the waiting room were getting sooo salty about the wait.
Walk in vax on the 2nd day they are doing it. Of course it’s gonna be bad!
I don’t have Kaiser but am going to call around tomorrow to see if there’s anywhere I can walk in…TBD!
I got flu and COVID shots at Kaiser! I had to sign an extra paper confirming the new FDA guidelines and confirm yes, I fall under the guidelines or no, I don’t but I still want the shot.
Was also thrilled to see a huge line in the lobby for their vaccine clinic.
Older kiddo got flu shot. We got a find a place that has covid vax for 2 year olds because the ped didn’t have any. Hopefully we can get that and the grown ups seasonal shots all in one go.
Flu shot done! Now to scrounge up COVID vaccine.
I got my flu and covid shot this week! It knocked me out for a day (sinus headaches, exhaustion) and was feeling a bit funky the next day too. Not a lot of soreness at the site of injection though?
They did this to me too! The random appointment that I did not agree too and could not go to because I was working.
I was able to call and get it changed as the website wouldn’t let me.
Got my flu shot at my doctor’s appointment today. I was there already and they had JUST gotten in their shipment. Done! Shots shots shots.
The doctor had called in a script for me to get the covid shot a couple weeks ago, as that’s required in my backward-ass state now
. She asked if they had given it to me. I said yes. She asked if I’d gotten any pushback or hassle from the pharmacy and I said “no, they really do seem to want to vaccinate people, they just can’t under state law.” She was VISIBLY relieved and said “oh, that’s so good to hear, we as doctors have been really worried about pharmacies refusing to give the shots.”
Flu and Covid in the bag (or rather, the arm)! I did have to sign something attesting my high-risk status but they didn’t need any specifics.
Got my covid shot last week at Kaiser (they didn’t need a prescription or any form-signing, woo!). Got my flu shot plus free cookies at work yesterday ![]()
I ended up postponing my flu shot until after my trip. Flu typically peaks Jan-Feb and apparently protection starts waning after 40ish days. I want to maximize my protection at the peak ![]()
I’m putting mine off as well to try to line up better with Thanksgiving and school winter break. I think I had Covid over the summer so I shouldn’t do the booster for that until mid October I think, so I think those line up well as long as I can get both at the same time.
Update! I have scheduled my Tdap and flu for this weekend so hopefully the vaccine hang over will hit Sunday night/Monday. I will do Covid another time in the near future, I just didn’t want to do all three in one day.
No plane flu and got the flu vax at a routine appointment Mon! I think next it’s just whatever they recommend in 3rd tri for baby!
