Who got their FLU SHOT?

Got flu shot at work mid-week, and unexpectedly got a Covid shot on Saturday. I hadn’t been planning to get a Covid shot this year because I had zero spoons to make an appointment or wait in a line to get it. But I took my 2 year old in for her flu shot and they were offering Covid shots at the same location. My arm is still sore but fortunately no other side effects.

When are you due? You may want to ask about the RSV vaccine if you’ll be giving birth during RSV season. It was super new when I was pregnant and I gave birth in April so it didn’t make sense for me to get it, but I did manage to scrounge up the mononucleal shot for the baby in the fall.

Late March so assuming it’s same as flu season it probably doesn’t make sense? But I did plan to ask in Dec or so in case there was a chance of catching the tail end of the season or smtn. Especially if a few weeks early.

From my understanding RSV doesn’t really have a season like flu does, especially for daycare kids. I could be wrong, but I’m firmly in the camp of RSV vaccines for everyone who interacts or will interact with babies. By age 2 basically every kid has been exposed to RSV and for a lot of them it looks like any other cold but it’s actually the leading cause of hospitalization for infants in the United States (per CDC and the AAP).

This includes my own kid who was hospitalized for several nights when he was six months old. We kept him out of day care for two weeks after that to let his body recover more before being exposed to the other infant room germs. RSV also has a longer term effect of making your body more susceptible to respiratory crap for a year afterwards too, just as a fun bonus.

I similarly had an ER trip with suspected RSV with my older son when he was 3. He was a covid baby so started his virus exposures later than other daycare kids.

@Galliver hopefully you’ll be able to get your baby the antibody shot before daycare - if that’s the path you choose. My daughter started daycare in fall 2023, when the RSV shot was new, and it was a hassle to get it.

Flu and TDAP achieved after a scheduling hiccup. Definitely feeling the vaccine hang over today, I’m glad I didn’t try to do my Covid shot yesterday too.

Tdap effed me up last year (my friend had a baby and I was at 10 years, to my surprise). Full on feverish, crawling skin, headache, mind numbing fatigue. The last one (2014) I had barely felt!

SO and I each had 2 sore shoulders since we got both flu and covid shots today.

Good for you! I got mine over a week ago and had sore shoulders, brief pain in my side (flu side), brief indigestion. All resolved within 48 hours. Not the most fun I’ve ever had but worth getting the vaccine protection.

I got flu, covid, and tdap Sunday and probably shouldn’t have done that all at the same time… slept for like 24 hours afterward

I finally got mine! Flu and covid, woo hoo. We are now only missing covid for the cuckoo because it has to be done at the pediatrician. There were some barriers but I’ve finally got it done.
