Got my flu shot today!
No sticker. No gift card. Just the vaccination. Followed by more soreness than last year
They did offer to throw in the tetanus shot I’m overdue for, but I declined.

Oh damn I bet tetanus and flu at the same time would be a wallop - good call!
I already was doing a blood (cbc) test on the same visit, so I would have had to use my other arm at some point.
Also - this is not medical advice - I am skeptical of having a current tetanus shot because when I’ve done something that requires a tetanus shot (e.g, smacking my elbow into the side of a mountain), they made me get another one anyway. So I view tetanus shot as a good preventative if you think you won’t have access to urgent or emergency care shortly after an accident.
I get bad vertigo for several days after that particular vaccine so I prefer not to get it more often than needed. I kept it updated when I backpacked solo and worked with feral animals but I don’t anymore.
No attractive pharmacist either? I am indignant on your behalf.
Huh. I got my tetanus and flu shots together earlier in the week and didn’t notice any effects other than arm soreness…guess I’m glad I didn’t know about the potential for rough side effects before going in!
I don’t think there’s more likelihood of atypical side effects; rather just amplifying feeling crummy if people feel crummy after each of those vaccines, which is fairly common with those two.
I have dumb atypical side effects with all vaccines but that’s my body not the vaccine
These are (obviously) done. 4 year old is sad they didn’t get to pick a toy this year, but we went to the library playground instead, so he’s fine. They both did REALLY well - almost no crying, kept their masks on the whole time, didn’t have sad sore legs later that day. Within an hour our 4 year old completely forgot which leg he got his shot in until he looked for his bandaid.
Got Kiddo booked in for his flu shot, they’re already booked out to the 22nd but we can get the mist instead of the shot. If he were in school they did that at the school last year and they did mist for all the kids but I think maybe it wasn’t till November? Either way I feel better that it’s booked at least. Now I should see about going to a local CVS to get mine.
Got my flu shot at the bougie drive-up appointment! Then got cider donuts from Trader Joe’s to celebrate
So a little bit of the vaccine dripped down my arm at the end- I guess the tech pulled the needle out too soon? The vaccine will still be effective, right?
Yep! That small amount won’t affect the efficacy of the vaccine.
Thank youuuuuuu
I mean, the tech probably would’ve said something otherwise, but this makes me feel better to just double-check, ha
I got mine! And spent my $5 on candy.
I got mine a couple weeks back and didn’t get any reward at all, but now I’m thinking of spending five dollars on candy anyway.
I think you should!
Flu shots aren’t available here but I buy candy anyways.
Well, so everyone in our family has had one flu shot now. But baby Latte needs a second, and the ped is out! (Shipping delay from the fires). We’ve got her scheduled for the end of next week, and we’ll just hope they come in by then
Our first appt for the little guy got cancelled because their shipment didn’t come in as fast as they expected but we got his Friday (the betrayal!! There was a lot of screaming!) and mine today.
Flu shot accomplished. Also ice cream acquired.
Flu shot accomplished and I used the coupon I got to buy poster board for Pacman ghost Halloween decorations. I will try to think about how I’m going to make them later to distract me from the “ow my arm” feeling.
