Got my flu shot- now trying decide what to spend my whole 5 Target dollars on!
Currently driving to the clinic to get baby flu shot #2! Not bad for a less than one year old
I rode my bike to the college I work at. The nursing students processing paperwork and administering vaccines were outside, masked, and properly following procedures. I rolled up my sleeve, got the flu shot, and profusely thanked the wonderful students. Then I hopped back on my bike and rode home. Gosh, that was so amazing.
Done!
Anyone know the rules about donating blood after a flu shot. I forgot that might be an issue and now I’m not sure if it work flu clinic is going to work for me.
Flu shot doesn’t affect blood donation eligibility
One way to maintain health is to get a flu vaccine each fall. There is no waiting period to give blood or platelets after receiving a flu shot as long as the donor is symptom-free and fever-free.
For those that have the flu, it is important to wait until they no longer exhibit flu symptoms, have recovered completely and feel well before attempting to donate. Donors must feel healthy and well on the day of donation.

Thank you!
We got our flu shots yesterday! The local pharmacy ran out (so no gift cards for us) but our doctor had them.
Mine is delayed through my usual free route and I keep forgetting to get one at any of the weekly doctors apprehensive I’ve had and have through November. Sheesh!
Apparently my local pharmacy has flu shots available. Filled out my prework form and plan to go tomorrow to get it.
So as I said in my journal, I was looking at a week to get an appointment for the flu shot. At Costco today SO noticed a sign and they were doing them there. Asked and were told it was a 10 min wait. We now both have band aids.
Me!
Mr. Meer was wondering what the point of getting a flu shot is since we work from home and are homeschooling Kiddo. We do go out to the grocery store and occasionally Home Depot but that’s about it. Thoughts?
(I already have mine and plan on getting Kiddo his, I’d just rather have it than not but don’t have any argument for it beyond that.)
There won’t be any flu available if there’s a Covid vaccine while it’s still flu season. Also no syringes.
He most likely wouldn’t get it later, he didn’t get his flu shot for years and years pre-baby/daycare.
I would say that we can make plans (stay home, stay healthy, be safe) but things/emergencies happen/unpredictable things happen where there could be unanticipated close contact with humans outside of his bubble. I don’t want to fear monger, but I’ve definitely had relatives end up in the hospital for unexpected reasons, and then contract communicable illnesses while hospitalized, complicating their own recovery and further risking illness to family, friends, and of course the healthcare providers taking care of that person. Even the limited low risk activities such as necessary grocery or home maintenance shopping are just that, low risk, not no risk…
I’m doing it because 1) I want to reduce my odds that I’m sick at all this winter so I don’t worry it’s COVID, 2) I sure as hell don’t want to get COVID and the flu at the same time, 3) it will help hospital capacity if there’s minimal flu loads.
Exactly. Kiddo could fall and break a bone, you go to the ED, you’re exposed to a LOT of flu and RSV over the winter. Best laid plans and all…
Got mine.
Got mine today! Didn’t want to post until it was done in case I forgot, which was a high-probability event. Thankfully, yesterday I remembered that my appointment was today, and this afternoon I looked up from my computer just in time to make it there.
Baby gets hers in November at her 6 month visit.
