We definitely get more out of it as co-op. It’s procedurally generated. We like exploring that, going on dangerous boat rides, etc. We just started playing Nightingale. Early Access, a few rough edges but a ton of promise. Early on you’ll encounter pigs, wolves, deer. But there are countless other realms once you gear up. That one is benefits from multiplayer but early on is more solo friendly. I’ll think about this and let you know if I think of anything!
Valheim is still one of my all time favorites with 1000 hours logged. And you can absolutely do it that way. Beating bosses will be a learning curve, a bit like Dark Souls light into you get the hang of it. But there’s a great Wiki for anything you don’t want to learn by trial and error.
Ghost of Tsushima again. Haven’t played it since it came out since 2020 on the PS4 and on the PS5 I’m falling in love with it all over again. It’s so much better at a higher frame rate and it’s such a beautiful game too.
Cult of the Lamb! Just downloaded last night. Delightfully dark and weird and irreverent.
The old Pajama Sam point and click games are on Switch now and occasionally go on deep discount. Those have full voiceover, so reading not required.
Hell fuckin yeah pajama Sam is dope as hell
I am too earnest a person who feels bad when my video game flock suffers so I played Cult of the Lamb with all the nicest options, but N is not like that so they played the most punitive and chaotic way and the mayhem that ensued was very fun.
Thanks! Voiceovers are very helpful.
omg lol the game keeps asking me to go that direction! one of my followers was like “pls help me fill the dark desire of eating poop” and I was like “NO Figre, that shit is BAD for you you deserve BETTER”
And the cannibalization option?! first of all, absolutely not, second of all, I do not have enough flock for that.
Seriously! It is too hard to get followers for them to be allowed to eat each other!
I’ve had it on my wishlist for a while.
Every time it comes up for sale I think about getting it… But I have sooooo many games I haven’t finished, and I’m playing Elden Ring again in anticipation for the expansion, and haven’t finished the latest Guild Wars expansion even yet, and Stardew gets an update next(?) week, and, and, and…
Also, the Paper Mario remake for the Switch is announced for May 23, and that might be the final straw that pushes me over the edge of getting a Switch.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
MvR and I enjoyed some play-testing of Nightingale along with a friend. Our whole friend group tends to enjoy piling onto a shared server playing cooperative survival games, especially Valheim. So we were excited about this game. Now that it’s out (in Early Access), ~3 of them are playing it a lot and enjoying it, though the way the game handles “realms”, we rarely play together. But furthermore, initial load and realms often take ~2+ minutes! Beyond that, the game definitely has lots of rough edges. Yesterday, I gave it another try. Was mildly enjoying myself, but then it crashed. And I had to wait for it to load again. And then a few minutes later, it crashed again. Just overall it’s not worth the hassle! (But, ugh, I’m at ~8 total hours play time and ineligible for a refund.)
A while back, another game came out, Enshrouded. I think only one of our friends tried it, and it wasn’t clear it would make for a good group game, or if we’d like it. But this week MvR and I bought it, I set up a server for us, and we’ve been playing together. It’s actually really fun! Super polished, everything loads quickly, combat is fun, gathering stuff and building and crafting all just work and are interesting and make sense. You also get a glider for jumping off high places, and a grappling hook for special challenges. And there’s no complicated item management. (All complaints with Nightingale …) Like those two items are always equipped - you just press Space a second time after jumping to open your glider, or you just press E when there’s a hook to use your grappling hook on. Instead of having 5 weapons and 5 “off-hand” items, you actually have multiple hotbars you swap in and out with Alt, meaning 20 things you can access readily. (I keep food, bandages, potions in one hotbar, weapons and tools in the other!) We’ve died several times, because it’s a fun level of challenging, and encourages you to just sometimes try something crazy (I can totally make it across this chasm… oh… actually…) but death isn’t very punishing. You keep your equipment, but items you’ve gathered stay with your tombstone. But the tombstone is placed just shy of whatever stupid dangerous thing got you killed, so you’re able to get in and grab stuff without just dying the same way again!
Between the two, it’s clear which one I recommend for anyone to try. And on another note, my sister bought Nightingale, but she started to hit performance limitations on her laptop pretty early, and has also given up on the game. It just has way too long a list of negatives. (It’s a shame, because I think it also has some interesting systems, gorgeous environments, and I suspect some higher level stuff is pretty interesting, going off what my friends talk about on Discord.)
Recently started playing Mineko’s Night Market on @flan’s reco! It’s really relaxing so far I can recommend it. Very simple, you are a little girl who moves to an island and slowly help to revive its night market.
OH and there’s a shit ton of cats? I’m in.
I haven’t scrolled up but wanted to say that for anyone who loved Chrono Trigger, Sea of Stars scratches the itch!
DH finally finished his switch game so I started this today. SO CUTE
I haven’t been reading a lot because I got a very cute slow-moving phone game called Tsuki’s Odyssey. I am having fun decorating the little bun’s house and garden and collecting all of the fish. Also the characters are kind of rude to each other and I find it amusing
I HAVE THIS GAME it is a delight send me screenshots
Also, I was coming here to see if you were announcing the stardew switch update
