Finished a project! Neighbour gave me a pair of lamps. I repainted them in March, and wanted to make a feather lamp shade. I had been buying white boas which sat in the closet for a while. Last night I finally got the lampshade, and spent 2 hours working in the project. It’s finished and I am so proud and happy even though my free lamps cost me $60 after everything.

I gave the kid free range with the hose and we’ve had a fantastic morning of boats, water play and making a mess with dirt and branches.

Double victory: I have finally changed my Amazon bookmark over to Smile so that anything I buy automatically credits the charity I’ve chosen. Furthermore, I accidentally linked to a page Amazon can’t find, so I get a cute dog of Amazon every single time I click the link, with a bonus that it loads up much faster than Amazon homepage but still gives me a search bar. This is a triple win, come to think of it, because our home Internet is such that load speed of the Amazon homepage is an issue, even on mobile.

When my parents are being awful in their various ways I usually power down like an android until they are done, then ignore whatever they did. Last night we were talking and they wanted to give me the details of my estranged sister’s reproductive medical woes. I interrupted to tell them that unless she wants to tell me herself I don’t want to hear her private medical information.

This is a big deal because I never rein in their inappropriateness. This was a very mild example of the shit they pull, but it was still really hard for me to shut it down. My hope is that the next time they are sharing the details of my medical situation with a complete stranger they will remember this and maybe hold back.
It’s not a realistic hope.

A week ago I got a blood test. Usually needles give me a huge bruise, at least 3 inches across, that lasts for a month.
This time I told the phlebotomist that I bruise easily. She was exceptionally gentle. I was so scared to say anything but I did and it was no big deal.
Now this is my bruise. A fraction of the normal one.

It’s practically not there.

My bruise from the flu shot, however…
