This screams Tired Mom to me lmao

We often do buttered pasta and grated cheese while pretending it’s a side we would have considered pre kids. We would never call it mac and cheese

This was a diet staple for Sis and I growing up.

I definitely can see their mom being like I am sick and tired and stuck in Idaho with no support and these kids won’t stop begging for mac and cheese so I am just going to throw some cheese on some noodles, not realizing that her three total weirdos of children would decide that was the canonical version of mac and cheese and demand it over and over forever.

Literally a key parenting phrase my husband and I quote each other constantly - “don’t do it once if you don’t want to do it forever”. Mostly meant in terms of “don’t grab them a treat while at the grocery store with them once or you’ll hear about it for eternity” but it has shockingly wide applications.

I hated KD and by extension all Mac & cheese until I started making it myself. Don’t mind cheese food, hate the smell of it browning tho – and by extension all really cooked cheddar. DH loves Mac and cheese, the HM kind. I made it a few times for him and discovered that I like the HM stuff just fine, if I don’t really brown the cheese. I tried that because we made “pasta & cheese” with parm and I liked it just fine…

So, these days, we make both HM Mac and cheese, and boxed (not Kraft, Annies w/white cheddar) and watch it like a hawk at the end to make sure the cheese doesn’t brown too much.

The browning of the cheese is my favorite part of baked pasta!!

Yea… same for my husband. I think they gave it to me once when I had a tummy bug, literally makes me gag.

We share one transponder for the local toll roads. That means we have mounting velcro on the car windows. Needed to add it to a car… went thru the entire velcro/command strip collection, no gots the right thing. DH came up to the office to tell me, specifically, what needed to be bought… looked over at the bookshelf next to my desk and spotted the right stuff! Yay! No spending $ on a duplicate set o’ stuff. No more storage of items out of place, etc. The pack will go into the container storing the rest of it and next time we should be able to just… find it.

Yay!

I over estimated what the shadowy one was going to owe in taxes, and we will be getting a few thousand back, which is helpful for the cash flow this year.

Our taxes are done, finally.

We had made an appt, in February, which Block’s scheduling program lost and had to redo it in March. I was really annoyed. We’d made that appointment 10/2025.

Not sure this is tiny, but victory is in sight! Last summer we decided to take out our 40 year old pool and have a nice big back porch built. They started in early fall but didn’t wrap up the porch until early Nov and basically no grass grew. So I’ve had a muddy mucky mess for months now, with 3 dogs tracking in dirt and straw and it’s been on the verge of unbearable.

There was a section of the yard that settled significantly, so that was filled in last week and a concrete walkway and pad for the grill were installed. We also painted and stained the porch. We are so so tired of the mess and decided instead of trying to grow grass we would have sod installed, that the $3K extra (for 2700 sq ft) is worth it. (Did I say we are too through to even care??)

So…after lots of legwork and anxiety about weather, delivery, etc. the sod and dirt were just delivered. And the installation crew just let me know they will be here first thing tomorrow. We are so close to done on this project and I can’t wait!

My sauté pans are pretty worn and I was getting ready to toss them out - then they were recalled so I got money back from Costco. What timing!
