Tiny Victories

The Bard used a song from how to train your Dragon to charm the dragons and avoid a fight.

One of the dragons is the beatboxer from the choir.

At intermission a sweet old man gave my friend and I a tour of the garden. It’s really nice.

the performance tonight was “a collective of singular performers deeply rooted in one or many of the following street, club, and vernacular dances: house, breaking, hip hop, tap dance, Chicago footwork, Detroit jit, litefeet, Memphis jookin, and body percussion”

I did not anticipate the tap vs. percussion faceoff, nor the breaker who performed to the sounds of the tapper just out of the spotlight. They completely deserved their standing ovation, and I’m very happy I’m able to go to shows like this now.

Plants are in, mostly herbs since I live in Colorado and ‘full sun’ here tends to mean ‘self-drying by August’, but also a few peppers/tomatoes/random flowering things. Plus I’ve cleared the roses that were being strangled by the climbing purple things and given the climbing purple things some actual stakes to climb.

TC…I still have room for a 4ft dragon garden ornament. Just something I noticed.

Brandi Carlile and Lorde shows just announced at Red Rocks (separate shows not together)! Great news for me, a gay person who decided that 2025 is her summer of red rocks.

Flowering trees are my favorite thing. I saw at least a hundred of them today. Peak serotonin.

Open invitation to come! I live 12 minutes from the venue and have a terrible dog and a newborn who is actually a toddler.

Tiny victory!
Some of you may know that I run a pet food pantry and in addition to operating the actual physical pantry boxes, we do sponsorship matches as well as direct gift matches.
Well, this is a small victory, but someone reached out with two cases & two bags of prescription kidney food because they had to switch the brand they use and we just so happened to recently have someone inquire about prescription food because it’s so  damn  expensive.
We had matched up another donation of kidney food to this person a few months prior so as they were picking up their food today, they let me know that they haven’t had to buy food for him for almost 5 months now, and they were able to use that money instead for his vet visits to monitor his kidneys more closely.

Hell yeah!
Sponsorship matches are clunky and time consuming (y’all I’m learning that most people are bad communicators and very poor planners, lol), but it is SO worth it!

I slept for 11 hours last night (Minus bathroom wakeups of course) and am not cranky anymore. Apparently I am a toddler. Ha.

ALSO! I am on vacation this week!

I know a handful of us in Colorado had outrageously high house assessment values last year. We got ours for this year and it is way more realistic! I love public services but the county was initially convinced I could sell my house for $100k+ more than I’d expect. My assessment is now basically what I’d expect my house to sell for if we got lucky and timed it well, vs. inaccurately high.

It’s cool that you can just BUY a big container of horchata at the store

Nah it’s not even a concentrate like I thought lmao you just open it and pour over ice bam done. Found it at Whole Foods (where I hardly ever shop) during a desperate trip during a toddler gym class :joy:
