Tiny Victories

It’s currently 64 in my town, at 4pm. This isn’t actually my favorite but I will definitely take this type of temperate weather over the stuff everyone else is going through!

We had one of Duckling’s friends from daycare and their parents over, and the kids played really well while the adults chatted. Only a few bouts of crying and one bite/ hair pull/ pushing fight!

My glider chair is amazing. It’s so easy to put my feet up. It has a lovely little lumbar pillow. Depending on how I turn it, I can be in a morning sunbeam or get a really good AC breeze. I can watch TV or turn and face the kitchen. I am a pampered fancy lady, and last night my husband even brought me socks and put them on me so I didn’t have to sit up.

I’m getting a small raise effective August. I just did the paperwork (is it still paperwork if it’s online? :stuck_out_tongue:) to put it all into retirement funds, pretax. Someone please praise me for my virtue* and my industry** (as Ben Franklin would have put it).

*For saving it all
** For actually getting the dang form filled out in time for things to clear by the August paycheck

Praise! Praise for your virtue and industry! well deserved.

Today the kids and I went to a huge art show and then to see the lucha libre. We ate tons of tacos and paletas and apple pop and cotton candy and…
The luchador tickets I bought in advance. $60 CAD got us in the fourth row, which was perfect.
Otherwise all of our spending (train, food) added up to $11 CAD. That’s $8.50 american.
This trip has been awesome, and generally insanely cheap.

Smacky, your holiday sounds absolutely excellent.

My victory is deciding not to keep trying to make a rug pattern that wasn’t working, and use the yarn for useful bags instead.

I picked up some Rainier cherries for $1.49/lb, and they’re delicious.

WOW. Where did you find that?! That’s an incredible price.

I got them at 99 Cents Only (which used to sell everything for 99 cents or less, but doesn’t anymore). I get all the best produce deals there! Google tells me it’s only in SoCal, Arizona, Nevada and Texas.

Ah dang! I’m just surprised. We grow them up here and I haven’t seen anywhere near that low of a price.

That’s an acceptable price  Rainier cherries are one of my “things” - because I never have paid more than $10/5 gallon bucket, my brain just says NO to any price much higher. It kills me when my parents visit here and my mom pays $10/pint :o

Was it my mums’ group friend?? I’m seeing her tonight!!

Yes! Wasn’t sure if I should out her :stuck_out_tongue: Duckling was soooo sad to see her kiddo leave on Sunday but they have been greeting each other by name every day at daycare this week, it’s adorable.

Her kid is definitely a biter  I haven’t seen her in months!! So I guess my tiny victory is that I get to catch up with my mums’ group friends tonight.

I slept 8 hours! For the first time in like… a long time. Not uninterrupted, but still!
