Tiny Victories

This is how I eventually trained myself out of cranking my wrists over to sleep on and giving myself residual and progressive numbness. Nightly splits for a couple years until I was reliably better at it. It made a huge difference! Even right away, within the first few days.

I ate Russian Honey Cake for the first time and it was delicious. Now I know a new thing I like!

I (and all the family members because mama isn’t suffering on her own!) did yardwork. Again. I’m done for another year, right?

:+1: I’ve said it before but I say it again - these are the best cherries. Even if they are $7/lb here. :sob:

Wait - are you US? I can’t remember off the top of my head. I have one of those padded wrist things I can mail you, if you want it. I got it years ago when I was having problems at work with repetitive motion strain in my mouse hand. It has a hard splint thing, some padding where the palm is, and has velcro closures. Now my big issue is tendonitis in my elbow, which it doesn’t really do anything for. It keeps your hand and wrist in a nice neutral position. I mostly wore it at night, but sometimes during the day (although it is very difficult to type in it, and somewhat difficult to use a mouse). It isn’t in like new condition (like, it is definitely used), but not too bad (the velcro is why it looks well-used). It extends about halfway to the elbow (I’ll take a picture). It has been sitting in a drawer for literal years.

That’s about what I paid for my cherries. No regrets.

I have one of those braces! I’m wearing it right now! It keeps the wrist nice and straight, and does nothing for my fingers. But it’s better than nothing.

Tony victor: my dogs slept in this morning, and so did I.

Somehow I’ve gotten a nice tan, even though I almost never leave my house. It’s a mystery, but one that makes me look seasonally appropriate.

I went to pick blueberries, and now I have a about a pound and a half of farm fresh organic blueberries we picked ourselves. I figure that’ll last me a day or two

I went for my (free) scheduled car service, and the dealership gave me a voucher for a free car wash at the gas station across the street, good for 30 days. I popped that in the glove compartment for after the next time I wind up picking up someone who lives on a dirt road. Yay freebies!

In case you haven’t experienced them, you can get finger splints - I’ve used figure 8 splints when I was having some problems related to hyperextension and they helped a lot for stability.

My AC stopped working today. My first reaction was GDMF THIS THING HAS ONLY BEEN IN OPERATION FOR ONE MONTH (less really). But then I had a thought. A few years ago my original (came with the house) AC stopped working. I figured out that one of the fuses had blown and replaced it. (It was likely from the filter not being replaced often enough (it was a rental).) So I waited until dark, checked the exterior fuse box (standalone units have, in addition to breakers in your master breaker box, a separate fuse box outside (well, mine is outside) between the unit and the breaker box. It holds 2 fuses, and when the one blew before I only changed the blown one.

Well guess what, the light was lit, THE OTHER FUSE HAD BLOWN.

The type of fuse it takes is sold in pairs, so I HAD A SPARE FUSE IN THE HOUSE.

Fuse is replaced, no repair people were called, unit is cooling again.

:tada:

(Fuses do wear out, and who knows how old the old one was. I am not going to worry unless it happens again. AC/furnace has only been in for 3-ish months, so not due to change the filter yet (it is the type that is supposed to last a year, the HVAC guy told me its better to replace every 6 months though, especially with animals, and especially if the ducts haven’t been cleaned (which they haven’t as long as I’ve lived here…))

I moved and the only thing I broke was a lampshade (replaced with a free lampshade from my parents’ house)

You are smart, I am impressed!

It’s all because we live in the age of Google!

(Also I am cheap. And am willing to try to do things myself if it doesn’t seem dangerous. :joy:)

And cool. It’s cool to be cheap.

(If you couldn’t tell, I am cheap.)

I made some progress on mitigating the effects of my “flat surface syndrome” in my kitchen. I also have no need to cook until at least tomorrow morning, so it will actually be clean-ish for another 15 hours or so.
