Tiny Victories

I usually swim on a Thursday morning with a friend - there’s a heated outdoor pool close by and we go for a coffee afterwards. Yesterday (Wednesday) was the coldest May day in Melbourne since 2000, only just made double figures (ie 50F) very wet and snow in a nearby area. The forecast for today was similar. I am a complete wimp when it comes to the cold but after changing my mind a few times decided to go anyway.

I was so happy I did! The weather wasn’t nowhere near as bad as forecast, there was even some sun peeking through the clouds and it was unusually quiet at the pool. Very relaxing.

Sucked it up and vacuumed and cleaned my (very gross, I miss having a dog who cleans) kitchen floor. It’s done, yay!

First flu shots for the whole family. We celebrated with doughnuts, movies and Nando’s for lunch.

I got a ride home from my meetup, instead of needing to walk 1.5 hours through the woods and back to a bus.

I applied for a job. I even applied on the same day that I found the job…instead of my usual “procrastinate for 3 weeks until the posting is taken down so I can stop stressing about it” routine. I wrote a new cover letter, edited my resume and got it done in an hour. I don’t know why this is so hard for me!

My apartment building is great but management is terrible. Finally physically took off work to find the manager in person, and from there she was able to actually do what I needed done in like 2 minutes.

Turned on the A/C this morning and it started! I’ve been repairing the HVAC system for years rather than replacing. Transitions are always tough.

I put the cat on the balcony right before pizza arrived. I’m a genius. We are both happy

Guys, Always Be My Maybe on Netflix is enjoyable. It’s not nearly as raunchy/ hilarious as Ali Wong’s stand up, but still. For the genre it’s good.

My Tony Victor is that I didn’t give up after two bad ones and now I’ve been on three dates. I’m not even looking for a partner, but looking to challenge my comfort zone and make some human connections.

I made this today! Probably didn’t use enough butter and salt. Even my picky kids ate some asparagus.

I guess we’re going to have a weird-smelling washroom today. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

This is a huge Tony Victor! If I even get to the point of agreeing to go on a date with someone I haven’t met, it usually sucks, and then I convince myself that being single forever is totally cool and I don’t need to meet new people. To stick it out for 3 different dates is super impressive.

Yeah it’s EXHAUSTING. But good for me to do on occasion. I’m still happy being solo and hope I just make friends. Not sure how else to do it! Ha

Survived a night of co-sleeping with a toddler in a single bed. Also, my toddler is a good heater.

Survived a weekend trip to see both in-laws, my parents, & grandparents. 9+ hours in the car in total with a 6 month old. Going back to being a hermit now.

Tony Victor: the last little drop of half and half that I bought a month ago still looks and smells good. I can use it to make real mac and cheese before I switch to a vegan milk replacement.

Ultrapasteurization is magic. Science, but magic.

ETA: said as someone who has oft appreciated the “yay! Its still good!”

Tony Victor: I could send what I’ve done off for review but will spend another 2-3 hours filling it in.

And then tomorrow I will sleep all day.
