My friend gave me her stand mixer. I’ve never used one before. It made baking cookies SO EASY and SO FAST! My difficulties using a fork to mix had made me only able to bake when I had a kid to do the work. Now I still need a kid for some of the parts but mostly I can do it myself. It was very very extremely exciting.
That is an awesome friend. Stand mixers are amazing and you totally deserve one! I AM VERY EXCITED FOR YOU AND YOU MUST BAKE ALL THE THINGS NOW!
The butcher gave me the pre-cooked spiral ham for 2.99/lb instead of 3.99/lb so I only paid $26 for a 9 lb ham. Now it gets to sit in our fridge until Christmas Eve.
I also got some chicken breast, angus hamburger meat, and some pork chops. I used the last $40 on my gift card from work so I only paid like $13 out of my own money for all that meat.
I am so excited for all your future delicious baking. Ponder picks up our new stand mixer tomorrow!!!
The world is a heck, but I’m having a nice night anyway
I’ll drug her and drag her on the plane
I’m ok with the drugs but no dragging needed.
I got a nap!
A task I dislike and seems like it takes tons of time (“full shower”- washing my hair and shaving)- actually only takes about 25 minutes. Which is substantially less than it feels like. This is a victory because hopefully I can schedule “hair wash day” more easily now that I know how long it actually takes.
Today I open my first Christmas gift. An instant pot device.
Sold the shelving and partition in my van!
Offered a heavy discount if buyer would self-remove. This turned out to be a very good choice. It took the buyer + his friend + tools + muscles + time to get it done. So glad I didn’t have to do it. My lone contribution was offering some of my WD-40 (which he did not have).
Now I can get started on the interior of the van (including the holes left behind where the shelving was bolted down that for some reason I forgot would be there…).
This is Partner’s victory for the most part, but our dishwasher was failing with some regularity to wash things to the desired quality.
We ran it on INTENSE mode, and then again empty with a vinegar rinse, and put a whole pile of salt in our water softener, and VOILA, it works again!
Turns out basic maintenance is good.
It was only after we bought our new dishwasher and I flipped through the manual to see what all the buttons did that I found out that dishwashers have filters that are removable and should be cleaned … monthly? Every few months? I don’t know if all dishwashers have this but if you can google your model this might be another thing to keep in mind in the future.
(note to self, check filter tomorrow since I’m pretty sure that hasn’t been cleaned during the pandemic so it’s probably time.)
We did google this! We assumed ours had one and were gearing up for some gross, but apparently our model does not have such a thing.
It was a mind blowing difference in the grossness of the dishwasher in this house when we cleaned ours I’m assuming previous owners were unaware of dishwasher filters.
My husband just learned about dishwasher filters earlier this week when I pulled ours out and washed it.
Bonus is that it can significantly lengthen the life of your dishwasher to maintain it, because then the motor isn’t fighting against so much resistance.
Tomorrow night will not be quite as long as tonight (solstice is less than 8 hours from now).
