Tiny Victories

All the comments I saw connected to their personal FB page were positive and supportive. Compared to when the Watchowski siblings came out? Massive progress.

Yesterday afternoon I muttered how the chill in the air felt like soup should be on the menu. By the time I walked upstairs for a work break, RLG and Pebbles* had potato corn chowder simmering away in the instant pot. It was SO good. Now I just have to raise the level of the meal by making @Gdogg’s cornbread, and we will be SET for dinner tonight.

*Pebbles will not eat the soup, but she did heavily assist in the making.

Rainbow knee socks. I’ve never gotten so many compliments on clothing from complete strangers, and I’ve only had them a couple weeks :flushed:

Just like others here, my IRA went up 10% in the last month. From the original high of the year back in March, it’s up 6%. I definitely need to start putting more in there because I am behind, but it’s always nice to see gains.

Well… i’m not sure he supposed to be a hunter…
I think he maybe is intended to appear to be wearing “urban fashion”.

On a related note I always forget how Jonestown massacre looking inflatables look in peoples yard in the morning before they turn the air pumps on. :joy:

I was whining about our vacuum being too heavy for me and hurting my hands. It’s stored next to our internet components in an area blocked off with a gate so the bunny won’t get at the cords. Hefting it over the gate is hard for me. My Mom offered an unused stick vac. Yipppeeee! I want to build a habit to vac our kitchen rug daily, and it was never gonna happen with the heavy vacuum.

My company just announced that starting next year we don’t get Columbus Day off, instead we get Juneteenth off. And also Veterans Day, which we never got off before despite all other minor holidays being off.

Our company also converted to Juneteenth instead of Columbus Day.

And we get half days on election day.

I am certain that no one at my company knows what Juneteenth is. However, we did convert to MLK instead of Columbus day this year. So…we’re getting there but super super slowly.

I just got a free kitchen helper through buying nothing. We’ve been trying to buy one for Latte for a month now. They’ve consistently been sold out everywhere. (Well, and the one time I found them I didn’t act fast enough). And when they have popped up on marketplace, they’re gone before I can get them. So not only do we get one right now, I’m saving somewhere between 80 and $200. HECK YES.

I’ve gotten to meet a dog on my evening walk every day this week!

Some of you may have seen this in my money diary this week:

  • Amazon Prime (delivery and streaming content): $12.99. Really need to switch this to annual.

Reporting that I did the thing! We are now annual and will save a little money.

Got my crown reattached (that had been my TC a few days ago). Maybe found a new dentist near me that I like. (They were great with COVID, at least.)

Wizard has partaken of A Certain Herb (a rare thing round these parts) and is now chomping through the lemon poppyseed shortbreads like a man on a mission. It is extremely endearing, and always nice when someone is clearly enjoying something you baked.

Four separate people have given us baked goods in the last few days. I am enjoying this trend.

Dark eyed juncos are back in the garden today. They are the most adorable little birds.

The other day we had about 10 mourning doves sunning themselves. Usually we just see mated pairs by themselves.

Love juncos. Cheeky little jerks. One would fight my moms garden globe every morning :joy:
