Tiny Victories

Greyman brought me a mocha unprompted.

I asked how he knew I wanted a mocha. Apparently it was from the increase in swears directed at the computer.

The sky is startlingly blue today. I realized that I don’t remember the last time the sky was blue here. It has been a variety of hazy/slightly smoky/very smoky since the first fire here in June. Clear blue sky is insane to look at!

I managed to resist the siren call of all of the takeout food I was craving (only because I gave up after 10 phone calls when no one was picking up the phone when I tried to order :joy:) and I ate tofu and broccoli for dinner instead.

I love broccoli! Sounds great.

I ate a whole pound of broccoli! :flushed: It’s definitely my #1 vegetable

Are you near a Costco? I can get a 5lb bag of florets in the produce section for like $5.50 here. Roast broccoli for days  so good.

Yes! I love Costco broccoli florets! So convenient and not really even more expensive than whole heads in the produce section at a regular store

BCBS NC sent me this OTC network gift card that has $400 loaded on it for me to use for otc meds and household stuff like toilet paper, toothpaste, laundry detergent, shampoo, etc Holy Shit y’all. I thought it would only have like $25, not $400!!!

Has anyone else ever gotten something like this before from their health insurance company?

Due to Covid, a lot of medical insurance companies are doing premium rebates right now. It’s possible they decided to give it out in that format instead. Whatever it is, it sounds awesome!

I just remembered that my boss got a health insurance rebate, but it was a credit, not a card like this. Also, my mom got something, probably a few months ago. I had forgotten this, and since my boss pays my premiums, I wouldn’t personally get anything back.

Yeah last year I got a premium rebate of like $9 that was credited against my bill. I was shocked to see this thing has $400 on it. The only bad thing is it doesn’t activate until tomorrow so I gotta wait to use it lol.
I can’t believe I can use it for laundry detergent and toilet paper, that’s crazy to me for some reason.

Was able to break out the table saw (technically a friend’s table saw, but I’ve got a standing invitation to use it) and get the cookbook holder cut for <relative>. Still need to sand/stain/etc., but at least it’s a start on the holiday gifts.

Sent a hard work email. Yes, at 11pm on Halloween. Best not to procrastinate hard emails any more than I already had.

Was luckily swinging by the Italian ice cream parlour around the corner because its there last day before they close until February. One last sundae with all the trimmings

I can now put shorts/pants on while standing up, instead of sitting in bed tediously trying not to flex my hip. I feel like progress recovering from this setback has gone SO slowly, and I still have a lot of pain, but little victories like this are encouraging.

In true tiny victory form, I painted the bean can that I keep my toothbrush in. Big news.
