This is all just the slow prep towards Dune-style stillsuits isn’t it.
As @TNT indicated, it’s my last day at work because I quit!!
To be clear, I’m not FIRE. But I have an FU fund and am going to ride out a little bit of a break from work until I figure out a new plan.
We got food delivered last night and placed a huge order (one appetizer, two sandwiches, two desserts). Howie ate all his food last night. I saved some of mine so had half of a piece of cheesecake for breakfast and half of a sandwich for lunch and both of my leftovers were delicious.
I turned my busted ass body around and mowed a lawn.
Not sure if victory, exactly: I just watched two green anoles having sex. For the curious, she turned brown and he turned bright green.
That sounds a lot more interesting than the two cardinals I saw mating today!
I mean, I would be perturbed with you too if you were just watching me have sex.
I was sitting on the porch minding my business when they just started having sex. If anyone should be perturbed, it’s me.
It’s so rude when they don’t invite you to join them.
Not sure that’s feasible, so I guess they get a pass.
We are shopping once a week. My fridge is full of meat from the local butcher, and my pantry will be full after grocery delivery.
Then I will have sugar to make pear crumble!
Bizarrely productive morning: laundry done, dishes done, all litterboxes fully cleaned/refilled, recycling beyond what gets picked up by the local company dealt with, 5 socks darned/2 declared beyond repair/1 warranty started with Darn Tough (should be interesting because this is the first time I’ve worn through one of their socks), plants watered/weeded (need to find someplace else to hang the birdfeeder with seed)…I kind of think I should go back to bed now, except I have to keep an eye on some builds running at work. Technically that’s a tiny complaint given that I was supposed to have today completely off until upper management turned ‘take an extra day off this month as a mental health day’ into ‘you may take day X and only day X and we don’t care what we said before’ with less than 24 hrs notice, but they can’t see me ignoring anything except builds so I’m officially not caring .
Elder bushes are blooming, so we get elderflower fritters tomorrow, assuming the rain holds off.
We had anoles in a tank in at least a couple of classes when I was in grade school. It would’ve been really funny if they’d started gettin’ down and the teacher had to explain to a bunch of 3rd graders what was going on. (I had no idea about sex at age 8; I imagine it’s different for today’s kids.)
We decided to try a new burger/sandwich joint down the street for our every-other-week takeout meal. This place opened about a month ago - yes, during the pandemic - and apparently sells out regularly. I see why. Boyfriend made orgasmic noises the entire time he was eating his burger. I had a Beyond burger patty melt (OMG do you know how long it was been since I had a patty melt of any kind) and it was greasy and excellent. It came with homemade potato chips with garlic mayo dip. I am full and happy. And so happy for THEM that they apparently are succeeding in a pandemic. Or, whatever passes for success these days.
I finished filming my talk and it was just around the corner from the very good convenience store that still has Bundaberg ginger beer in stock. So got two plus a blood orange to celebrate completion. (Hopefully- if it is bad i assume that they will ask for a reshoot)
Today’s project was replacing plants that my jerk squirrels destroyed and putting down pretty new mulch in one of my beds. And finally getting some color in front of the house! I still have to do the hanging baskets for the porch, but that’s for another day.
My neighbors on either side of me (one of whom happens to also be a co-worker, though we don’t actually work together on projects) have been out on their back decks, as have I. Our decks are far more than 6 feet apart from one another. So I’ve had some actual, if shouted, conversations today, from a more than safe distance. This has helped my mental state a great deal.
We got accumulated amazon returns done, and got $168 back.
