I also successfully made kale chips for the first time, with the kale I got in my CSA. They are not soggy. OK, they are a TINY bit burnt in a few spots, but I don’t actually mind that.

No fritters yet. Flowers really need another few days to a week, depending on weather

Socks and wearing in my new gumboots has worked enough to convince me these are suitable for puddle jumping. Air outside is lovely and warm until the storm hits in a few hours.

My very specific shoes I wear for work (Reebok CF Nano 4.0) are so many versions behind (I think they are on version 8.0 now?) that today when my toe finally busted through the fabric I snagged up a brand new pair on ebay for $17 shipped new in the box. I love being not up to date in my sneaker stylings.

Looks like we’re going to have 100% germination from the seeds I got at the farmer’s coop. This means we’ll be buried in squash and zucchini. (Assuming I can controlled the squash bugs and vine borers and wilt and and and.)

@LittleWanderer brought me REAL GOOD CAKE :cake:

For real, that cake turned out amazing. Everyone needs that cake in their life!

Oh! Here’s the recipe for said cake. I used 72% dark chocolate instead of unsweetened and cut the sugar down to 1.5 cups. I also made a chocolate whiskey ganche because, well, why not?

Edited to add: It only needed about 50 minutes in my oven. Their cook time seems super long.

Hmm, I have vodka, tequila, rum, but no whiskey…

I have made rum cake before. Tasty.

I mean, if Reasons include that you ran out of cake already and want to make more tomorrow, I would totally understand.

Someone in the comments made it with rum and said it turned out fantastic. Please do this and report back.

Dinner is being made by my daughter (chorizo and spinach risoni) and we are going to watch Mamma Mia 2 on the Big TV as the males of the house are out due to restrictions being lifted.

The kitties finally stopped testing the portable playpen I bought for them, for weaknesses, like little velociraptors determined to bust out of it and break free. Both are now lying down in it, on the back deck, chilling out and looking very happy and relaxed.

I’m the only person in my area at work so I am playing my music out loud (as in, through speakers, not headphones).

Today, I put on a skirt.

It was just for Boyfriend’s and my socially distant walk around the neighborhood. But, see, I am not a person who wears pants every day. I wear pants rarely, unless I am 1) in for the night and thus in PJ pants. 2) working out, 3) doing physical labor, 4) in danger of literal frostbite because it is 1 million below zero out (and even then, I’m equally likely to just layer up on the warm leggings/knit thigh highs/legwarmers and wear a skirt anyway.)

Except it feels dumb to wear a skirt while sitting around the house. It’ll just get cat hair on it. No one can see me. I need pockets since I don’t want to haul my huge purse around anywhere because it has too many embellishments that are probably virus traps, and none of my skirts have any.

Nevertheless, I put one on today anyway and I feel a little more like me.

I wore a skirt on my walk today, too. I had to carry a bag anyway, since I was picking up some plants from a neighbor, so I didn’t miss the pockets too much.

I have more masks from my mom, if anyone can use some just let me know. I’m happy to mail them out.
