I got the quilting done on Baby Quilt 1. Just the border top stitching and binding to go before I hand it over to go in the goodie basket.
Oooooh, what did you get? (a month ago I worked part time at a running shoe store, so I am always curious about what people are wearing!)
My stimulus check is pending. I am a bit at odds about it. At this point I do not need it, and I could help others with it. But… I work on commission selling kitchens, which miiiiggghht not be the best paying job in a pandemic year. I think I have decided to stick it in savings for at least a few months and see what happens.
Our income is more secure than yours and we are putting into savings (whenever it shows up) for now just in case. If worst case doesn’t happen it will go towards stimulating the economy by, funnily enough, remodeling our kitchen.
After 2 years of avidly budgeting, my emergency fund hit 5 months of expenses today!
I got the Nike flex run shoes. I used to have the Nike free and really liked them, but finding them in my size (8) was next to impossible. I ordered these to try and really like them! I currently have a pair of Assics a friend gave me (they are New York marathon imprinted which is hilarious because I’m very far removed from running) and I use them for indoor activities.
I have the second pair in my online shopping cart but now there is no free shipping unless my purchase is $99 or more before taxes. Do I pay the $7 shipping or spend another $15 to get free shipping? The dilemma! But I kind of don’t want to wait because the size will disappear soon and I will be SOL. Will figure that out today.
I feel like light, flexible shoes like that work really well as running/workout crossover shoes. I use the Altra Escalante for that kind of thing, as Nikes don’t fit my wide feet.
New truck doesn’t need an oil change until 7500 miles. I was worried that I would need to change it @ 3k like the old ones.
( I mean, I’ll still probably need to change it earlier than that because I actually use it rather than just commute in it, but not having to get an oil change this month is happy)
That’s incredible! Congratulations! Also, what a heck of a first post!
There’s actually nothing wrong with my vacuum cleaner! I somehow accidentally hit a button on one of my outlets that made a whole bunch of them stop working. Pressed the red reset button and POOF. Everything works again! I feel dumb, but at least that minor crisis is averted.
YAY!!!
Good job figuring out what went wrong.
Well, I mean, I had to have help figuring out to press the red reset button. This is why I am never allowed to own a house by myself.
But you did it. Give yourself credit for finding the tools/resources/people to solve a problem.
I have been eating French toast with real maple syrup this week. It is more age appropriate than drinking the maple syrup out of the bottle.
My stimulus check is pending, and I’m plotting my cart for a buncha books to order from our local book store. ( For Powell’s, and thank you to @anomalily for the idea of picking what institution in your city you think really defines it and needs support!)
Oooh, I’m not getting a check but I might put in an order to Powell’s anyway. I have a goal to eventually go there in-person and I would like it to… exist?
I highly support this decision
My list so far involves a bunch of baby board books, and Mary Oliver.
This is where I was at when I got my first house, 8 years ago.
My basement flooded a few years ago and when the outlets didn’t work after it I figured they flooded and I needed an electrician. I had a builder in and told him about it, and he said “did you reset the button?” Ummm… no, let’s do that!
BOARD BOOKS. I’ve been thinking I wanted to do an order from Powell’s but I don’t really want more physical books in my house. I do, however, have friends with babies, and a cousin who’s due date is in September.
YES GOOD THANK YOU.
