Got a few weird substitutions in my grocery order this week, but turns out they’re all things my brother’s family eats, so I was able to walk over and drop them off. Even got to say hello from a very safe distance
Ophelia has started to allow belly rubs again. I think she had stopped because she was upset about Gandalf.
One of the projects I rely on for data finally published a new update. So much good stuff in it. This should keep me busy for a week!
I figured out why my baby was sad and how to fix it.
$100 consolation tip from a client who had to cancel 2, likely 3 weekends of cat sitting.
My childhood dance teacher is putting out mini classes on Facebook and I missed dance class so much. Can’t wait to do them with Bobbin who loves to dance already
I’ve finally worked out that I was feeling crappy because there wasn’t enough salt in my diet. Today’s lunch was salami, cheese, hommus, olives. Feeling MUCH more stable.
That sounds amazing.
I have bread and olive spread, cheese, and smoked salmon…maybe that should be tomorrow’s lunch.
Yuuuum. I also had some tomato, lettuce and crackers. It feels so fancy but it’s just delicious and easy.
We spent the money on the really good hyper-local coffee (rather than the less expensive, pretty good organic grocery store coffee) with some of the money we set aside to support local businesses during the pandemic, and it is truly so good. The fresh grounds smell like chocolate and cherries.
The contractor’s new quote for our backyard reno came in lower than expected!
We’re doing this and pick the coffee up with our egg CSA today. I’m sooooo excited.
Housemate is gone! (He has a free place to go and is probably going back to work in a factory next week).
I was able to clip all my baby’s fingernails at once. While she was awake. No injuries.
This is a huge victory!
I rescind previous Tiny Victory. Turns out contractor had not included several things in the new quote. The corrected quote is $425 over our supposed max budget. Except the max budget has been steadily increasing and now I’m just glad we’re at 4 times our original planned amount and not 5.
Two completely unrelated victories:
-
I finally figured out why my laptop wasn’t charging quickly/charge would turn on and off! Problem cable identified and a new one ordered for not too much money.
-
I was having a ton of trouble doing a particular important work task, so I emailed a colleague for help. And she just did it for me! I about cried with happiness haha
I bought tofurkey sausages months ago. I put 1 in a recipe, discovered it was foul, and threw the rest in the freezer for someday when I was desperate. That day was yesterday - and I found that while they’re disgusting in things, they are actually not terrible while dipped in a little mayo and mustard. (I know that sounds disgusting but my German grandmother used to make something similar, though with meaty sausage, obvs.)
Flour acquired, sourdough starter revivived (or revival is in progress, anyway). Not that I was hunting very hard when it was so scarce since I generally have rice with meals rather than bread anyway, but they had plenty at the store when I was going through my list this morning so I went ahead and picked up a bag for a couple loaves.
I thought I did a Terrible Thing to my back, because I was in so much pain two days ago. Turns out it was just my PMS proving that it can be even worse than I ever thought possible Severe back pain as a PMS symptom is something I’ve dealt with for a while, but every month it shocks me with how bad it can be, and then how normal I feel just a few days later. So annoying, but I’m happy it wasn’t an actual injury!
