Tiny Victories

Stopped in the grocery store since it was the same strip as the pizza I was picking up (first non-homecooked food in three weeks) and they were just unloading toilet paper. Score! Anxiety Beast feels better now. And who would have thought bringing home toilet paper to my spouse would be a good surprise a few months ago?

I made breakfast for Hubs and I today. Bonus is that I used up the leftover baked potatoes, corn, and fried onions from dinner he made last night. This is a win for not wasting food, and a win for contributing on the domestic front. I know I do not come close to pulling my weight in this space. I think I’ll tackle the huge pile of towels waiting to be folded, next!

I got a refund for a class I signed up for weeks ago but that was, obviously, cancelled. 20 bucks. Every little bit helps.

I now have a second monitor for my work machine thanks to a random convertor dongle from Amazon.

After a weekend that was both very happy and very hard and sad, I just watched chef Jose Andres on Jimmy Fallon and he is a pure soul and a hero. He talked about money even! And about how canned vegetables have feelings and we need to show them love because sometimes their feelings get hurt. Also his love for his rice cooker song is the kind of love we all need

I threw out my paperwork and repair info for the old truck and replaced it with the paperwork for the new truck. While I was at it, I tallied up the repair costs for the old one. I would have been better off buying new if I could have afforded it back then.

I am mostly a baker and not a cook, but I sure do know how to cook kale.

I managed to get the baby to sleep while keeping Lil Pup happy closed into our bedroom while a plumber worked on our sink. At one point this involved sitting on the floor, pup in my lap and baby on my shoulder, both asleep. Since Pup normally cheerfully accosts anyone who comes to do maintenance, this was a huge victory.

There is still no flour and no bread, but I was able to add both corn meal and oats to My running grocery order just now. And grits.

Additional victory: folded tinfoil nose shaper in my homemade mask came through the laundry just fine (wash, hang dry). Also apparently my hand stitching is still stout enough to withstand the washer.

I have managed to calm my fretting mind by keeping it VERY busy falling in love with a ginger haired Scot whose name I can’t pronounce, or more accurately the fictional eighteenth century soldier he portrays in the show I just binge watched. My brain is having a spectacular love affair. Screw reality…this is where I’m gonna hang out.

Hello, my name is Marcela and I have a supreme weakness for ginger haired Scots and must now know who you are feeling in love with.

My garlic started sprouting (oops) so I tried planting it and it seems happy! More garlic for me in a few months

First telehealth appointment for Kiddo’s PT went okay and at one point we were even doing family yoga on the porch with the birds chirping in the background. (We’re trying out the porch as a PT space so eventually one parent can work while the other helps the therapist.)

TV2: I’ve been using headphones to listen to music while I work, Kiddo likes to come in and do his tablet on the floor and asks to borrow my headphones sometimes to listen to music. Lately I’ve been introducing him to Rammstein, Metallica, and right now he’s listening to Disturbed’s Down With The Sickness. Finally, a way we can expand his musical tastes beyond made for kids content!

New bed setup is much less painful to sleep in. I’m hoping this mattress/topper combo is the last one we have to try for a while

Our first appointment cancelled at work this morning and I had time to catch up on some things. I also came in to ONLY 3 EMAILS. Shocking. Also I am only working 5.5 hours today. Also I forgot to bring enough food, but my coworker brought in mega stuff Oreos.

I had a good run before work too.

I wrote the company that does the cash-back-on-flea-meds program that I’m in, asking them if they can make an exception and accept my proof of purchase late, as I was past deadline. And they are - as a “one time courtesy.” I have to do it via snail mail but that’s OK. I’ll get $15 to use for vet expenses later. Every little bit helps.
