Tiny Victories

When my kids were that age I would park the stroller at the edge of a nearby construction site and pull out a book. Free childcare while I got a break!

  • Locker was broken into and my shit was stolen in November
  • My shit was not recovered (including a wallet MWP made that I am still mourning)
  • Locations were highly inconvenient
  • Too exhausted by commute to force myself to go

I am moving in 3 days, and this morning I spent 1 hour changing my mailing/billing addresses on ALL of my bank accounts, insurance, credit cards, etc.
I literally never do this, and wait months and sometimes years to make these changes. I had a credit card with a billing address from a house I lived in 5 years ago

I went to the dentist for the first time in over 10 years (I don’t know exactly how many years it’s been, but honestly, probably closer to 15) — and I DIDN’T HAVE ANY CAVITIES and don’t need any other work done! This means that I’ve never had a cavity! I do brush and use mouth wash super regularly, though my flossing could be better. Still, NO CAVITIES!!

Also my teeth just feel a lot better. There was still a ton of plaque buildup!

A horrible and terrifying medical thing happened last weekend. I figured out the cause and eliminated it, and the horrible and terrifying thing is already much better. Yay for cause and effect functioning as it should!

That’s a HUGE win. So glad it shouldn’t happen again.

I found a picture book that I thought was out of print on an educational/ teachers website! Thank goodness for teacher resource companies.

I suggested to a friend that we meet at a park instead of a cafe, since I suspected she thought of a cafe instead of the park out of habit. Win!

I did NOT buy Thai food on my way home today and it took a LOT of willpower.

It is raining!!! I have never been so excited about rain!

I am excited because it was forecast to snow for 3 days straight without stopping. Instead, sometime last night it changed over to rain and now things are melting and there is NO NEW SNOW. I am very happy about this. I did not want to see the result of 3 days of constant snow.

(Tiny complaint: supposed to switch back over to snow around 9 p.m. But, it’s warmer so maybe it won’t stick as much.)

Damn and I thought I was winning by getting it down to $1.74/lb at Aldi yesterday

Can you please advise on how you make these victories happen? Because I have zero idea where I’d even be able to buy 40 pounds of chicken thighs, let alone at that price.

Haha, great question! I have a membership at restaurant Depot. I tend to buy things that will be thrown out soon but are still safe to consume. So, a case of chicken thighs if usually $1.29 / lb, but on sale for the 74 cents. I go there fairly often since it’s the only place to get Thai basil in town regularly.

Plus a pound of basil, Thai basil, or mint is just $4.25. spring rolls are in my near future, plus a bunch of pho

Ahhhh! How did you get the membership?

So, I own an LLC, and was able to just take my incorporation documents and the filled out paperwork to the front counter, grin sheepishly because business how does it work, no I’m not tax exempt, and I got free membership.

Any non-profit or Corp can do it, just not a sole proprietor. If you have a local non profit that is cool, sometimes they’ll let you get a card on their account. Also, if your business happens to expire, your membership is still good. So like, incorporate in Delaware for cheap and get a card and never think about it again

Edited some autocorrect, but probably introduced moar

We’re going out to eat with friends tonight and it’s gonna be fuuuun.

I’m trying to brainstorm good places to go. It wouldn’t be so bad to suggest Indian if that wasn’t what I suggested 100% of the last 5 times I went out with them.
