Tiny Victories

In use this one for most nights. My brother’s wife makes the all day stuff that is amazing but I don’t usually have the patience and this is 90% of the way there

A few small victories

  1. Went grocery shopping with a friend last night to multitask and catch up
  2. It surprises me how the little things amaze her - I brought reusable bags for both fruit/ veggies and reusable shopping bags; I price matched stuff; when main store didn’t have the honeycrisp apples I wanted, the metro which had them in for $1.28/lb CAD (this is stupid cheap for honeycrisp) we were right by and went in to grab them. She was blown away I had a shopping list for the week when she couldn’t figure out 2 days of groceries. She wanted to go out to eat and I had a spend $60 get $25 off coupon and she was impressed that I had that because she would never have cut it out of the paper.
  3. I tried a homemade bread recipe in the bread maker - the SO is really picky and never liked the bread I made before - but this recipe was a winner and he liked it this morning! So I will be saving a couple of bucks on bread now when we need it. I’m going to try the recipe to make buns which he uses every day for burgers.
  4. Not that big of a deal, but I noticed when reviewing finances this morning I have spent nothing on clothing for the month - I’m not trying to do a buy nothing on clothing but I sort of am a bit? I have more than enough stuff to not need anything replaced this year. I don’t consider myself a huge clothing spender, between the 2 of us last year it was about $1300 for everything from shoes, and up.
  5. Working on using up what I have- I have finished one conditioner and shampoo, and working on some face moisturizer right now - I have 4 on the go, one is almost done, 1 is brand new from Christmas, and 2 are over 3/4 empty - I can only shower so much.

I find with many of the challenges it becomes overwhelming - I need to set my own pace. I am doing some very slow decluttering, starting with some extra office stuff of scanning and shredding which I can only handle for a short time. It’s all progress.

Just found out that my library changed its Kanopy model at the end of last year and now Great Courses videos are unlimited. Previously it was a limit of 4 courses/mo (still true for movies/tv series), but this way if I’m not interested in a course after the first lecture, I’m not blocked from other courses for the rest of the month. So off to try a writing series while I do the chores that have been building up.

I’ve been working on a big volunteer event that’s happening next Saturday, part of what I did was get a press release put together through several drafts and sent it out to local media organizations including radio stations. I just found out that several radio stations in town have mentioned our event!!

Me right now:

I’m in the middle of a move, at a random hotel, sad and grumpy because my back hurts and I miss my friends already…but Return of the Jedi is on and now I can forget about real life for 3 hours and eat snacks in bed.

The vet thinks Kitty just has a soft tissue injury, not a break. She’s stuck inside and will get daily pain meds until she heals, but this is positive!

Continuing to use what I have - left over cream cheese in the fridge and had to share this because it is the most perfect cheesecake I have every made - and crustless - and it does taste as good as it looks! I tried a new recipe and love how it turned out, so it may be my new go to recipe. We put cherry pie filling on top after the piece has been cut.

My wife has given the OK to look for work in PNW. It’s a relief to look somewhere that actually has jobs for once. Also, we’re excited about the idea of moving as far away from her family as possible.
