I slept for 10 hours without interruption. I may go back to sleep soon. I am very happy.
I finally became a patron! Using my gift card I got from Swagbucks.
It’s a Christmas miracle: I found the credit card I lost 10 days ago.
Through much googling and making of actual phone calls, I have located the following open this afternoon in the city that my college is in: a Chinese restaurant, a gas station that has a diesel pump, and a movie theater showing Star Wars.
I need Photoshop for some freelance work, and a friend who works at Adobe is getting me a free year of Creative Cloud in exchange for testing 10 hours of tutorials. Very worth it for me.
So jealous! That is a huge win. I hate that CC is a monthly subscription now. I wish I could just buy the software I need and use it for a few years instead of paying $30/month
20 blank “recipe cards” with gingerbread men on them in the Target $1 bins, plus 50% off Holiday items clearance, = $0.50 to write thank you notes to everyone in my office who gave me a gift. To think I might’ve nearly walked right back to the regular card aisle and paid $10 for a box of thank you notes.
Made Christmas cookies - a day late. But it is ALWAYS a good time for cookies.
I am home.
I made good cake.
I saw a dear friend who I haven’t seen in person in several years.
I visited my beloved old college town.
My Christmas present: three unfinished sol solid wood wall cabinets to be stacked one atop the other to make an 8 foot tall pantry. Now, if the weather holds I’ll stain them tomorrow and maybe husband can install this weekend. This was part of the original kitchen design, but as it wasn’t urgent, it’s been on a back burner.
His present is to be a tractor attachment, but the tractor place is closed all week so we’re on hold there.
My mom is going on a trip, and she bought a bag of avocados from Costco that took longer than she expected to ripen. I am now in possession of a FREE bag of avocados!
Avocados are precious. Especially if they end up ripe anywhere near when you wanted to use them
I have like 5 ripe avocados right now, so guacamole is in my future!
I wrote ~800 words of the new data science plan. Even though I’ve had some major setbacks in the form of roadblocks stealing away 1/3 of the time I had planned to use for the project, I think I can still get it done on schedule.
I’m almost done packing, and I still have a whole hour left before I need to leave!
Whereas I am more of a "have a travel toothbrush so I don’t have to worry about sticking with it in my suitcase in the morning when I get up " kind of girl. The suitcase would already be packed before I go to bed, of course.
Oh shit you just made me realize I packed the (electric) toothbrush but not the charger. NOOOO.
I got the new cabinets for the pantry stained today, because of course it’s going to be a suitable temperature for staining outdoors in late December. But it’s done!
I thought that I was coming down with a hell Col or flu, but it turns out that I just got heavily wheat poisoned by Christmas food! So after throwing out the leftovers I felt greatish 12h later and almost normal 24h later. It’s a Christmas miracle!
(No getting mad at the accidental poisoner. Due to pregnancy, SIL severe illness, etc. All cooking had to be done in a tiny kitchen inhabited by wheat eaters of all ages, by a person who had just recovered from a bad stomach virus, nursed kids through the same virus and was all shopped and cooked in about 24h. While catering to 4 different dietary restrictions. And it could have been as small as a kid fixing themself.toast on the cutting board while his back was turned.
