Me too! And Saturday and Sunday, of course. And Monday back is a soft landing because it’s a professional development day instead of a regular day of teaching.
I have Wednesday through Sunday off and Monday is the last class day of the semester.
Husband managed to work enough this week to take no PTO.
I took a very long and desperately needed nap.
Trying to put a posi spin on this so follow me on this journey… ha
I’m about to work SO MUCH and make lots of money due to the holidays.
I neeeeeed money, so this is a Tony Victoria.
I went to an event and they didn’t have my registration but they let me in without paying because I was late and other extenuating circumstances. And likely because of that I didn’t get the swag bag, but I stayed late enough talking that I could check out the bags others had left behind and so I ended up with a notebook anyway.
I love free notebooks and will miss them once I have RE.
I’m a little late to the party on this but I don’t think this makes you a grinch at all. New systems come out all the time and the new games are designed to work with the new systems. The PS5 is going to be released around this time next year and it might cost $500. This sounds like a good opportunity to teach your son about planned obsolescence, depreciation, and delayed gratification.
I’d say get him a present within your budget. Iirc he’s too young for an actual job but maybe he can save up birthday money if he gets any, sell things at a garage sale, etc. You might also assign him the “homework” of researching what his current systems cost when new and what they’re selling for now, and how long it would take him to save for it.
Otherwise, maybe give him the option to get the switch for Christmas with the understanding that something like his birthday present would be smaller, if you think that’s appropriate.
Despite not-great roads, made it down to see Jesus Christ Superstar (50th anniversary tour) last night. The music was excellent.
After failing to get charts from Altair -viz to show up all day yesterday, it finally works today. (I assume this has to do with the cluster IT made of my PC when they made a new user profile because my company instant messaging stopped working. Don’t troubleshoot, just nuke it.)
Anyway, I no longer have the nice icon to launch jupyter notebooks, but I can open an anaconda prompt and get to it from there. And the visuals work. That’s what really matters.
It is far too cold in the office.
I got up at 6 and only slept for about 6 hours (hello insomnia and the reminder that I am NOT ALLOWED coffee after 3pm). I need like 7 at least to be not a pile of useless negative energy.
FIRST RAIN!!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!!
and also rainbows and hot showers after getting caught in the rain, and coffee with cardamom and knitting and cozy blankets and the inaugural turning-on-the-heat-because-it’s-now-going-below-50-at-night.
My big ole kid has an interview for an internship at the university radio station. He is very excited and needs interview clothes.
today i had a leftover mexican skillet from brunch on sunday and i used the leftover corn tortillas from a prior lunch and cherry tomatoes from the garden to make breakfast tacos.
i love reconfiguring leftovers
It’s 12:47 and I’m tipsy bc of coworkers going away lunch. I like being tipsy.
I found a kombucha in the back of the fridge.
My neighbor is wonderful. Husband is out for a couple hours, baby is napping, and dog needs out. We’re in an apartment, so that means a walk. Which I’m barely physically able to do, much less trying to bring the baby or figure that out. I texting my neighbor down the hall and she came and got the dog
Also, someone from buy nothing is bringing me a slice of pumpkin pie since I’m skipping thanksgiving.
After nearly 8 hours in the kitchen, my contribution to the Thanksgiving baking/cooking is done. Cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, pumpkin pie, apple pie, oatmeal cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and pumpkin cookies. And bonus mini apple pies because I had leftover crust and apples.
That pie is adorable. I wanted to do a fancy decoration on mine, but I have no tiny cookie cutters!
Thanks! My mom has a tiny apple shaped cookie cutter she always used for apple pies, but of course no one knows where it is now.
That is a beautiful pie! 10/10!
That crust is perfection! I hope it baked well! It looks really fucking good.
