Tiny Complaints

Solidarity. I have one attempting the absolute center of my forehead. Rude!

Google Chrome just updated itself and now all my tabs are illegible and hideously ugly and I want the old style back

EDIT: Reddit to the rescue. If this happens to anyone else, you can revert back by going to chrome:flags and disabling Chrome Refresh 2023 and Chrome WebUI Refresh 2023

Had an appointment at the pharmacy to get stuck repeatdly today (flu, covid, tdap) only to get there and find out that they’ve somehow recently become out-of-network. I can still fill my prescription there because the cash coupon works out to the same price as in network, but for vaccinations I apparently need to go somewhere else.

Remember when the Affordable Care Act was being debated and the Republicans warned us against the so-called “death panels”. It turns out they don’t mind “death panels” in the least; the Repubs just want you to have to pay insurance companies for the privilege of being denied by them.

Got chased by a deer on our evening walk. It’s only the 3rd time it’s ever happened to me, 1st time with Oliver. Super terrifying and we ended up having to sprint into an alley and hide in someone’s side yard.

Some of the deer here are scarier than javelinas…especially the young male deer who are very curious about dogs. Freaks me out!

I grew up in an area overrun with white tailed deer and elk, and none of them were anything but terrified of people and dogs.

The moose would kill you without noticing, but the others? I can’t picture anything remotely aggressive. That sounds awful.

Yeah it’s my first time visiting here with my own dog and I forgot how scary the deer can be when you’re walking a dog! I’m ready to go back to Tucson now where the deer are terrified of humans and there’s just javelina, rattlesnakes and sharp plants to worry about :joy:

And scorpions, and bobcats, and coyotes, and valley fever. We were lucky to not live near a wash, the scorpions seemed to congregate there.

Javelinas are scary.

I live near a wash but I’ve been really lucky and haven’t had any scorpions in my house, mostly just giant nasty roaches. Where I lived previously was even more wash-y and I had at least one scorpion a month though

Stuck on the highway due to an accident. The police have closed the highway. SO figures we will be stopped for 2 hours while they move the tractor trailer. All vehicles are turned off. We still have 2 hours of driving to do after we move.

2 hours and counting. But hey I have caught up on EVERY thread (except parenting threads!). And we are taking pictures of the sky and finding constellations.

Have you survived the drive yet?

My very most immune compromised friend finally caught covid. And she never texts even in normal times so I doubt I will know in any timely way if she’s getting sicker.

Yes! We didn’t move for just over 3 hours. Got to my moms after midnight. I was not in a car today which was lovely.

When the Skyway was stuck G spent 5h trying to get through Burlington. Sometimes it is awful.

My TC….

I ordered a fruit box from TGTG. And they cancelled this morning. This happened the other time I tried ordering from Metro too.

For the past many years I’ve had an automatic debit from my bank account to pay my student loans on the first of each month. I’ve never paid it manually. This month there was no debit and the website shows me as in arrears. Why didn’t they take their money?
So now I have to phone and talk to an actual human. Inhumane!

Not only will I be in London for the tube and rail strikes, the one museum I specifically planned an extra day to visit will be closed for a private event.
