My stubbornly refused to misbehave while at the mechanic so they have no idea why it randomly stopped working on me again last week.
TV: they didn’t charge me for having all their guys try to get it to mess up and I got a recommendation for another shop that would be able to do intense diagnostics if it happens again.
Reminding myself that I give a damn about the neighborhood and how dues get used which is how I keep ending up on the board of the HOA…but wow our (interim, theoretically) property manager is useless. It’s a very good thing that the board president is both retired and extroverted to the point that she likes calling vendors or nothing would ever get done. And we’ll still all be glad when actual property manager is back.
I’m listening to the Golden Enclaves right now and it’s weeeeeeird. Her pacing and how she spaces her words, and sometimes her intonation doesn’t match the description of the conversation (“so and so said ‘X’ flatly”, but she says ‘X’ like a question or pleasantly or something).
My husband just listened to those! He struggled for a similar reason, he only does audiobooks (tons of car time for work) and it’s interesting to compare notes on how it effects what we feel about the books.
I really wish I could do audiobooks, esp with new baby coming any day, but I just haaaaaate how a lot of people read I guess?
My favorite are the memoirs by comedians (mindy kaling, Tina fey, etc) who read the books themselves. It feels less like an audiobook than listening to them talk.
Definitely a pacing issue for me…with a lot of books by the time I get them up to a comfortable speed, I’m being read to by chipmunks (although this is less of an issue with podcasts, weirdly enough).
