Tiny Complaints

It is bug season very suddenly. Oliver is enamored with them and loses his shit anytime he sees one and must catch it. Tonight, after an incredible commotion outside, he came inside and had the suspicious kind of closed mouth that you just know is holding a delightful discovery for you…before I could even tell him to drop it, a 3 inch grasshopper forced its way out of his mouth into my house…at least the door was still open and he went on his merry way. :grimacing: I hate bugs so much.

Sigh. He just broke my screen door launching himself at another bug :sob:

Our Bernese went through the screen door the day we moved into our house. We took it off and I think the door is behind the shed in the yard.

We bought a magnetic screen instead.

Sadly these are part of French doors and it’s all one big system so can’t be removed. Honestly it’s a miracle they made it almost 3 months! He seems to respect the screens and hasn’t tried to walk through them…but all that goes out the window when the Most Fun Things Ever are flying around haha

My parents had a big lab that did this more than once before they took the hint  . I was pretty little, but as I recall we ended up with like three screen doors leaning up against the garage before they gave up.

I think my husband beaded a new screen in the door the first time she went through it. Then two days later just took the slider off when she went through it again.

I lived with flies in the house for years, then a couple years ago found the magnetic doors.

My cats go crazy launching themselves into the air when there are flying insects, but they are significantly smaller than Ollie!

We had a self-care workshop at work today put on by the women’s ERG. I logged on to it late and everyone was talking about their preventive screenings that found cancer, cancer, and more cancer. And also about women younger than me having heart attacks.

Wtf. I think it was self care for me to log off of that and mute the chat in which everyone was talking about cancer!

I scored 4 bottles of free wine off BN. 2 of them had corks that were completely rotted and disintegrated into literal crumbs when I tried to open them. A third did not have that issue but it didn’t taste good at all and I didn’t finish the glass. The fourth is a gigantor bottle that I assumed I could bring to a party at some point but now I’m afraid to.

Oh well, you get what you pay for.

Dealing with the home insurance company so far has been quite painless. I’m very pleased with the service I’ve received to this point.

Except for one thing, and it’s not their fault, but rather that of the bank we have our mortgage through. You see, for claims above a certain dollar amount, the bank needs to endorse the check due to the mortgage. The bank has the following options for getting them to endorse the check:

  1. Mail the unendorsed check to an address in another region of the country

  2. Go to a local branch of the bank.

Unfortunately the nearest branch is in the next state over. So that’s where we’re going this weekend to hopefully get this resolved. But we figure that’s better than giving up physical possession of the check for an unknown amount of time.

After 2.5 months of politely playing with his stuffed/squeaky toys, Oliver suddenly discovered that he can destroy them and get piles of stuffing to play with. Sigh. Nothing is safe

CRA sent me a message but the system is down 3am-6am so I can’t log in to check what they want to tell me.

Spouse is going on a trip - so I cannot workout next Monday and Tuesday. (Because old blind, deaf, arthritic dog cannot be left alone).
