It doesn’t happen often. So when it does. Oooofdah. Rehashing the conversation, plus Feels with fun new flavors like: “nothing you say matters!” And “he doesn’t actually value your opinions!” Fun times, fun times.
Kids are gross. Sometimes the grossness involves poop.
This is me, on the other side of it it sucks that it happened and that it throws up all the other emotions for you.
Dropping a glass ornament on a wood floor causes it to shatter into many very small pieces.
Lower back pain.
I made bread today and thought while making it, “It’s so cool that I make this bread enough that I don’t even have to look at the recipe anymore!”
And then I put in 1/3 of the amount of salt I should have.
It’s not bad, but it’s definitely not the super tasty homemade bread I was expecting.
Ooof. I’ve been there too and it sucks.
Top with salted butter when you eat maybe?
I recently did something similar with a recipe. So aggravating. I forget what I did, but it completely split the sauce.
I thought I had an 8:30 meeting this morning. Nope, they moved it to 8. My start time is 9. I was 15 minutes late to it.
Because I didn’t check work email until 8:15 to verify that no meetings had moved (which I now have to do every goddamned morning because people don’t understand that CST exists) because I was trying to figure out why our toilet seat hasn’t arrived from Home Depot.
Our broken toilet seat is now totally broken to the point that I have to sit down very, very carefully on it. This morning, the broken hinge completely snapped off and fell into the toilet.
You weren’t late; you started work 45 minutes early.
Have you considered declining meeting requests outside your work hours?
It wasn’t outside my work hours until about 7 a.m. when the PM (who is in Ireland) changed the time. By the time I saw it had moved, the meeting was already going on.
Someone from my team is required to be at every sprint planning meeting, so if I declined I’d have to find someone else to cover. We are having a big push right now from upper management about how this isn’t a 9-5 job any more, and that they’ll give us flexibility and unlimited PTO but on the other hand we need to be flexible too, blahblahblah.
Also, it turns out that the toilet seat hasn’t even shipped yet, though it was ordered almost 2 weeks ago. Boyfriend canceled the order and is reordering from the Evil Empire, after getting on chat with customer service who said that the warehouse (which is in the south suburbs here) is so backed up due to covid-related staff problems that it has not shipped and probably will not ship for another week. This is why people order from the Evil Empire. Sigh.
Sorry to hear about the push, but if your start time is 9:00, it was outside your work hours when it was originally scheduled at 8:30.
Sounds like there’s a lot of stupid at your job. For the record, changing a meeting time the same day (!) is so outside of business norms as to be unimaginable in most of the business world. At least, changing it to earlier. Having everyone wait a few minutes for a CEO or something is reasonable, but not a straight-up change like that. Outside of emergency situations, it should not be changed even a day or two before, and it’s assumed that any change will mean some people will not be able to attend.
I wish that were our culture.
It is always at 9 a.m. every Tuesday. Late yesterday it got pushed back to 8:30, and I thought, eh, it’s only half an hour and I can’t get anyone to cover for me on short notice, no big. Made mental note to set up mac at 8:15 or so, so I’d be ready. This morning - surprise! Pushed back another half hour.
I think this was because of some other big last minute meeting (that I didn’t have to go to) with some grand high lama, which was creating a schedule conflict. This happens a lot, some executive VP or whatever calls a meeting and everyone has to scramble to reschedule around him.
I just had a nosebleed into my face mask.
Then had to wash it so now I have to wear a wet one unless I can find a spare hidden away
Oh, man.
Read this as Prime Minister and thought it was very expected for some politician to change things around with no notice or care for others.
All I know about the PM of Ireland is that he has an Excellent Doggo. Maybe you need a dog in your next meeting? Can’t hurt.
Accidentally had too much caffeine. I have a doctors appointment I’m coming up on that I’m nervous about. This is a bad combo.
I mean, I had a cat on my lap for most of it…
In the last few weeks I have had at least 4 people canvassing knock at my front door for charity etc. It has become annoying. Last night the guy was dressed with a guitar to sing a song to raise money. I tell all of them politely that I already designate my charity giving. However, I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one becoming annoyed. SO tells me to stop being polite.
