Nothing in my Container Store order was breakable, especially given the copious amounts of plastic it was all wrapped in.
So why the hell was this much packing paper needed? Even the cats looked at it like “the fuck?”

I swear as soon as I have extra money that I’m trying to save, my car or my dog sniffs it out and we are either at the emergency vet or the mechanic. This month it’s the mechanic and an oil change that turned into an unexpected $500 repair

went for coffee with a friend who was visiting my neighbourhood for another reason. tidied up the house and the shadowy one put on hard pants in case they came by after to see the kitchen.
they had another time sensitive errand and had to leave directly after coffee, so tidying and hard pants both in vain
btw, if you have dual UK citizenship, and you don’t have a current UK passport, you might want to resolve that now, before you decide you want to go for a visit. I’ve heard two stories in two days about this being painful.

My Dad’s British passport was stolen a number of years ago, and he reported it but they didn’t seem to care. He didn’t bother replacing it until a month ago, and only then because his return trip from Madeira involved getting off the plane in Gatwick, going across the city, and getting back on the plane at Heathrow. Since he was born in the UK, he needed his British Passport now.
I was waffling on whether I should pursue citizenship due to birthright, but not sure if I want the hassle. But 30 years ago it would have been crazy to need to leave the US, and… What if my kids need an out 30 years from now

I’m not sure how it works in the UK…are you already a citizen and just need to formalize it to get your passport? Or do you have to make a choice to claim it? If it’s the former, you may need the passport anyway.
I too am of the opinion the more passports the better. I’m currently working on Canadian citizenship since they recently expanded their citizenship by descent.

Absolutely not to dismiss this stressful situation AT ALL, and def a valid complaint… but I will say in all my years of diarrhea cleanup, tiled surfaces have been preferable.

I am Canadian but my Dad was born in the UK. I think I’m eligible for a passport via descent.
I hadnt pursued it prior, but well, 20 years ago would you have imagined that you’d be looking at Canadian citizenship as an American? Who knows what the next 20 years will bring, you know?
And probably easier to get it while my 70 yr old father is still around.

I know people who pursued their UK when UK joined the EU (I did not because we were trying to check my Dad’s status without drawing attention to it. He’s fine)

I started to want an Irish passport in like 2002 when between going to Greece and going to Turkey the US had done something stupid in the Middle East and my dads visa was like $25 and ours was each suddenly $200. And they only took cash but didn’t have a Euro ATM.
I was a child so I didn’t have to pay but I was like “huh, backups seem nice”
