Unfortunately this is very much happening everywhere right now insane increases. My parents straight up got dropped by their company- they’re pulling out of their entire city. Etc.
Guess they’ll have at least 2 tables open for other guests!
my sister asked me to cover the farm social media messages while she’s on vacation and out of service. that’s fine. she asked me at 9:45 the night before they left and didn’t say please or thank you. I’m feeling crusty about it.
Have there been natural distracted in your state?
Either way might be worth shopping around…
Yep, this is happening here too, to the point that home sales fall through because no one will insure them - for stupid reasons like the (perfectly good) roof is more than 5 years old. It sucks!
I was looking online to make sure it wasn’t just me, and apparently Colorado is starting to have some of these issues as well! It looks like the prices are pretty consistent across the available insurance companies, too. I hate looking for new insurance, it is so mentally taxing for me, but it might be worth it.
We get fires, tornados, floods, and hail damage, depending on where in the state you are. I don’t feel like last year was particularly bad anywhere, though, so I wonder if it’s just an accumulation of the last 3-5 years of fires and stuff (I mean, 2020-2021 was made of fires everywhere, not just Colorado).
The NOAA website says that 2023-2024 had a number of hail/tornado events in Eastern/South Colorado, but mostly it’s just drought now
It’s funny I was gonna ask if you were in Colorado or AZ! Both our states that a lot of insurance companies are starting to softly pull out of, without the seemingly overt concerns of California, Texas, or Florida.
I have read that insurers have lost so much $ in the past decade that they are raising rates across the board.
Oh fuck. Not tiny.
Yep. We’ve seen huge increases and we’re not really a risk area for anything.
My mom texted me today to let me know I forgot my dad’s birthday yesterday. I can’t count how many times she’s done this. I always forget my dad’s birthday because it’s so soon after Father’s Day, and right before 4th of July. Plus this year I have so much going on I don’t even know what day it is. Just ONCE I would love her to text me the day before, or the day of so that I can remember in time! The day after text is 100% about guilt and I hate it.
Hmm, that’s very Catholic.
Would putting it on a calendar reminder help? I have it email me one day before and it’s the only way I can remember birthdays (or our anniversary, haha).
It’s on my calendar. I’ve just been so busy writing+working that I haven’t looked at my calendar or notifications. My complaint is that she does this on purpose to guilt me. She knows I will forget, and she always waits until the next day to say something, instead of giving me a heads up in advance when she knows I’m incredibly stressed right now
Your mom is just a terrible person
That’s just mean. Why be mean?
I keep track of birthdays by including them in my budgeting spreadsheet. Since I track all my spending and update various things including net worth every month, I know for certain that I’ll see the birthdays there in time!
A question I’ve been asking for 30 years! I sincerely don’t know, but at this age I feel bad for her…the way she views the world, and the deep resentment she has for me is only hurting her
Do you have siblings? I don’t think my mom ever wanted kids, so her dislike came through with her interactions with me, and probably my older sister (big age gap, so I never noticed anything when she was still home).
