I have a hole in the bottom of my sock.
Related: I bought a big pack of the same style of black socks that I always get, but this batch seems really crappily made and keeps sprouting holes.

I have been tossing them as they get holes, but it’s the beginning of the day and I’m stuck with a hole in the bottom of my sock which feels weird.

I am a tenderfoot who cannot tolerate a hole or badly placed seam in my sock. I almost never wear socks anymore.

It is going to be a beautiful day and I have a lot of outside things to do. I do not want to. I think (hope!) my attitude will be better once I am outside and get moving.

My kelty shelter leaked last camping trip last summer. I fully waterproof sprayed it this spring.
Yes, that’s a saturated picnic table. I dunno if I try waterproofing again, or give up and just use this as a bug shelter.

Those satellites, unlike traditional satellite technology, allow scientists to see through clouds and inside tropical storms and hurricanes, even in the dark.

My homeowners’ insurance renewal is a 54% increase, from $3700 to $5700. We’ve added NOTHING to our policy, and our tax appraisal went DOWN this year, but they still increased the dwelling, other structures, and personal property protection limits of liability by quite a bit. What?
I just double checked, and our 2023 → 2024 increase was 43%, which I assumed was due to the increase in property value of our “country” home during Covid. Apparently I was wrong?
In 2021 our insurance was $1800. This feels super ridiculous.

I did a search for cleaning services in my area and opened four links. Two had online forms to request an estimate, so I filled those out. One emailed me basically saying “call us” and the other called and left a voicemail saying “call us back.” It’s not like the calling option wasn’t obvious on the website! If I wanted to call them, I would have!

Walking home from the bird sanctuary, and one side of the road is sidewalks, and the other side is a multi-use path for bikes and runners. So we were on the walking side, and a woman with her son came up behind us on their bikes. I said very levelly that there is a bike path on the other side.
Her answer? “we didn’t hit you”

A friend and I got to the book club cafe early and the gal working told us to make sure we left at least 2 tables open for other guests. In the 1.5 years we’ve been going there for this meeting, twice has someone else wanted to sit inside where we are.
Worked out nicely that we had already been planning to find a new location due to a new member’s allergies. Have fun without the steady business of a dozen customers who always buy stuff and tip really well and clean up after themselves.
