I finally found a dermatologist I love who does very thorough skin cancer checks and she suddenly closed her practice! Finding a dermatologist with availability in the sunniest place on earth is basically impossible :sob:

Amazon tracking creepiness.

Currently visiting parent in small town not-quite middle of nowhere where the realistic shopping options are Walmart (~20 min away) or Amazon (whatever delivery). It’s actually a pretty stark example of what happens when Walmart moves into a small community because I remember pre-Walmart and a variety of mom-and-pop type shops that have all disappeared, but the current creepiness is parent needing a random charging thing to go with a Christmas gift and Amazon’s first shipping question being if I want it delivered to <me> at <parent’s address> vs my own. It’s not actually a brand-specific thing courtesy of the EU so they shouldn’t have guessed the recipient that way, and I run a VPN so my computer shouldn’t be giving away where I am, and yet here we are.

I thought I left my nail polish stuff at home and had SO look everywhere at home for it. I was bummed so I bought new base coat, top coat and white polish in the last few weeks.

Tonight he showed me that it was here all along hiding behind my glasses on the top shelf of the vanity where short people like me can’t see.

I washed all the exterior windows the other day when it was warm out.

I can see all the spots I missed now.

It’s too cold to go fix it

Big complaint: Septic is backing up just TWO MONTHS after got it pumped. It’s supposed to go more like five years, and we actually lived here for well over five years before we realized we had septic (we have city water but not city sewer for some god forsaken reason). We knew there was an issue but I was supposed to have more time to get the permit work done and have people come out to give quotes on redoing it. Fucking fuck fuck fuck.

Oh and I sent off the permit paperwork mid December but I’m not clear on if we actually have a permit now? What with people being on vacation till next Monday.

My coffeemaker just broke, it’s not heating anymore. I have a fancy one from Jura with all the bells and whistles.
TV1: there is a shop in town which services these machines, I have to call them on Tuesday to make an appointment, :crossed_fingers: that they can repair without to much money.
TV2: I have still a small Nespresso capsules machine for espresso and some flavored coffee, so I am not completely out of coffee :relieved:

We just saw 2/3 sets grandparents over the holidays and I just realized Kiddo’s school photos are still on the counter at our house. :woman_facepalming:

I know we get off comparatively easy but this blows. Had to bring in a bunch of plants and will need to cover everything in the ground - which I cannot do now as it is warm and humid.

Related TC: I harvested all my basil due to the weather and found that my food processor died. Tried to make pesto in the blender and it was FAIL because my blender is shitty.

You should have a bit of a microclimate with the fence? When we get frost everything within seven to ten feet of the house is still green, the frost is beyond that. I had to mow our small fenced backyard yesterday because the weeds were so happy growing in a mostly protected area. The aloe and snapdragons on the porch got left to fend for themselves at 31F and they seem entirely unbothered.

We also sometimes left things covered for a day or two (two full time jobs plus kid plus forgetting) and the plants made it through.

Boo on the blender. Maybe freeze and redo in the future, or just mix it in a spinachy pasta dish in the future?
