it’s funny how obvious it works, given that I was so unsure going in

Funny story - at knit night yesterday the person who gave me this ball complimented the colourway.

I laughed because I thought she had recognized the yarn, but no, she was surprised that it was that one and was knitting up so nicely. I think she regrets a little bit that she gave it away.

I’ve now completed the two missing squares in this soon-to-be-I-hope blanket/throw/afghan. These are 2-colour crochet squares, replicating what is known as a half triangle in quilting. And the fun is in arranging them in various patterns, like this one.

So this will be a 24-square blanket.

I will now need to assemble it. Then add a border.

I may or may not do this promptly. Because I’m planning to gift this one to my partner’s brother and his wife. I picked the colours based on the colours of the interior of their house. But partner also has a sister - so I want to make another, similar one for her and her husband. I’ve already got a few square crocheted for that one. So I may focus on crocheting all those squares and only then move on to assembly of both.

Depends how I’m feeling and how much time I get to focus on my own. I can crochet the squares easily now. But I’ll need to watch some instructional videos on assembly and borders before I move on to those steps.

Trying to decide whether to rip back and switch colours so the dark is more dominant than the mid tone

The body after the yoke will be the mid tone.

eta: checked out ravelry again with this lens on things, and I’m going to the very beginning again instead of just back to the medallion. it just looks better when the darkest colour is the ‘shadow’ in those first few peaks.

Finished colourwork, moving to smaller needles and then measurements to see if I am at sleeve separating.

Oh that is very satisfying colorwork

I really hope the sweater looks right once I get the body done - I don’t want to revisit that colourwork with a new combination.
